Pura Vida Tequila Company, LLC proudly announces that Michael Hernandez was named its California Managing Director. With nearly two decades of experience and a vast knowledge of the liquor trade -- in particular the California market -- Mr. Hernandez has a proven track record and a robust history of Sales and Marketing success.

"Mr. Hernandez has a unique and remarkable background within the industry, including such titles as Regional California Manager, Senior Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and California Chain State Manager," says Stewart Skloss, founder and chairman of Pura Vida Tequila Company, LLC. "With his expertise, intense market knowledge and proven dedication, we are sure great things are ahead for us in the California Tequila market and we eagerly anticipate the many advances that undoubtedly will come our way with an industry titan like Michael Hernandez in the driver's seat."

Hernandez is an established expert for product rollouts and has played a leadership role in managing several product growth strategies. Hernandez coordinated the successful launches of such tequila brands as Corralejo, Casa Noble, and Partida to the Western States. His name is associated with product introductions for such international brands as Jim Beam and Absolut Vodka. Mr. Hernandez's name is also well known in Fortune 500 liquor manufacturers, including Brown-Forman Corporation, where he spent 15 years as head of the Developmental Brands Department, successfully introducing numerous new brands and line extensions.

"Pura Vida has done an excellent job of attracting celebrity investors. To date I have met with Billy Gibbons (ZZ TOP), Mike Hampton (former MLB All-Star pitcher) and Tom Wood (Former INDY driver)," said Hernandez. "The endorsement and financial commitment of these celebrities who have chosen to partner with Pura Vida Tequila Company speaks volumes about the quality of the product and the ability of Pura Vida to continually thrive."

Upon arriving in California, Hernandez dove into the chain divisions, where he again quickly established a reputation for successfully gaining new brand placements within the cut-throat California chains sector via a strategy of fact-based selling. He has unmatched credentials in the On/Off and Chain segments throughout California, and effortlessly managed a third party agency targeting Hispanic accounts while working for Absolut and Jim Beam.

Mr. Hernandez is fluent in both Spanish and English, placing Pura Vida Tequila Company in the perfect position for an aggressive California expansion. Mr. Hernandez's educational background includes an undergraduate degree in business from California State University Fullerton and an MBA from the University of Redlands.

Pura Vida Tequila currently operates in the Texas market with a line of ultra-premium tequilas in three expressions: Silver, Gold and Anejo. An Extra-Anejo label will be released 4th Quarter 2011. The company's aggressive stance in the U.S. market, introducing the only ultra-premium tequila at under $30, is proving to be an enormously successful marketing strategy gaining global recognition.

America’s love affair with margaritas fuels tourist boom in the land of Tequila – Tequila consumption has increased 45 percent in the U.S. over the past five years. It’s no wonder, then, that the country is waking up to the tourism power of tequila, the drink, and Tequila, the place — the center of the farming region of the prickly Weber blue agave plants from which the spirit is distilled.
