The International Hispanic Online University (IHOU), a provider of online college courses taught in Spanish, is pleased to announce its partnership with the Latino Education & Advocacy (LEAD) Summit being held on the campus of California State University – San Bernardino on March 28, 2011.

IHOU is providing a virtual town hall where participants can interact on discussion boards with each other and the LEAD Summit delegation, in conjunction with this Summit. Topics of mutual interest to advocate for Latinos in higher education will be presented at the Summit. In addition to asynchronous interaction before and after the Summit, IHOU facilitators will be on-site at the Summit where they will forward questions from the virtual town hall to Summit presenters. Finally, the town hall will function as a repository for key interviews with leaders, participants, as well as relevant resources related to the LEAD Summit.

To register as a participant in the IHOU Town Hall, please go to: http://ihou.org/lead-summit.html. There is no charge associated with this. For more information about the LEAD Summit and to view the full program, please visit http://lead.csusb.edu.

“IHOU is pleased to provide this platform to enhance interactivity among the participants of the LEAD Summit,” said Marvin Loflin, IHOU President. “The leadership, collaboration, and resources provided by the Summit are crucial to the development of higher education.”

About the Latino Education & Advocacy Summit

The objective of the LEAD summit is to promote a broad-based awareness of the crisis in Latino Education and to enhance the intellectual, cultural and personal development of our community's educators, administrators, leaders and students.

About the International Hispanic Online University

Union Bank, N.A., today announced that veteran banker and long-time community leader Leticia Aguilar has been promoted to the new position of regional executive, overseeing Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties. In her expanded role, she will also oversee local government affairs. Aguilar, who reports to Executive Vice President Michael Feldman, head of California Branch Banking, is based in Los Angeles. She was previously market president for San Diego.

"As we continue to expand our presence in Southern California, Leticia's extensive experience in the industry will be a tremendous asset for Union Bank," said Feldman. "Leticia's dedication to our customers has helped ensure that Union Bank is among the preferred community banks throughout the Southland."

Prior to joining Union Bank in 2009, Aguilar was a market president for Bank of America, and oversaw the bank's Greater Los Angeles market. She also held the title of consumer executive, where she was responsible for managing all aspects of consumer and business banking. Aguilar was a district manager for special markets and during that time she developed the bank's first Asian Retail Banking District in Southern California. She gained nearly 16 years of retail banking management experience during her 37 years with Bank of America.

"When a person like Leticia proves over many years a consistency of serving the community and demonstrating the highest level of professionalism, it is a benefit to everyone when that person is elevated to a position where she can touch many more lives," said Domenika Lynch, Executive Director of the Mexican American Alumni Programs at the University of Southern California. "Union Bank has taken a giant step forward in promoting Leticia."

Aguilar attended the University of La Verne and the University of Virginia, School of Retail Bank Management. She is the recipient of numerous professional and community awards, including the Woman of the Year 2008 award presented by the Anti-Defamation League and New Economics for Women. Aguilar is a member of the board of directors for the Performing Arts Center Spotlight Awards, is also an advisory council member for the University of Southern California Mexican American Alumni Association and served as chairwoman for the Thomas Rivera Policy Institute. She was also a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and United Way of Southern California.
