Yahoo! Telemundo today announced its Top 10 Searches for the month ending July 31 (http://yahootelemundo.com/lomasbuscado), which include the Top 10 in overall searches, image searches, as well as the most searched for Men for the month of July, as established by the millions of Yahoo! Telemundo users.

Top Trends in Search for July include:

Top 10 Overall Searches

1. Without Breasts There Is No Paradise (Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso)

2. Miss Universe 2008

7. Galilea Montijo

8. Marijuana risks

9. Ingrid Betancourt

10. Organic Foods

Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso (literally, Without Breasts There Is No Paradise), is a Spanish-language telenovela that debuted on Telemundo on July 16. A hit in Colombia, the telenovela tells the story of an attractive young prostitute who seeks massive breast implants to attract a rich cocaine smuggler. The show was one of the network’s most-watched premieres ever and, not surprisingly, nabbed this month’s number one spot on the Top 10 Overall Searches. Also topping the list was a group of beautiful women, including Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza, Italian actress Monica Bellucci, and Aracely Arambula, who just announced she is pregnant with boyfriend Luis Miguel’s second child. Rounding out the list was former FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) captive Ingrid Betancourt, whose recent rescue after six-and-a-half years of captivity created a worldwide media frenzy.

Top 10 Image Searches

1. Tattoos

2. Adriana Lima

3. Sceneries

4. Gemma Atkinson

5. Eva Longoria

6. Galilea Montijo

7. Barbara Mori

8. Vanessa Guzman

9. Isabel Madow

10. Naruto

Top 10 Image Searches (cont.)

The number one most searched for image on Yahoo! Telemundo in July was Tattoos – tattoos have experienced a resurgence in popularity in many parts of the world, particularly in North America, South America and Europe. A survey published by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 50 have a tattoo.

Victoria’s Secret Supermodel Adriana Lima, an ever-popular name on the Top Searches lists, is still making headlines after it was announced that she and basketball star boyfriend, Marko Jaric of the Minnesota Timberwolves, will be tying the knot. Following in Lima’s footsteps – four more models were among the most searched for images in July: British lingerie model (and reality TV star) Gemma Atkinson; Uruguayan-Mexican actress/model Barbara Mori, star of the hit telenovela remake, Rubi; as well as model Isabel Madow, known for her appearances on the Mexican edition of Big Brother VIP. Mexican actress and model Vanessa Guzman (a former Miss Mexico) also peaked users’ interest as she recently went public with information that she and boyfriend Uberto Bondoni, an actor from Uruguay, were blackmailed for a sex tape that was allegedly taken from their home in Mexico.

Top 10 Men Searches

1. Thomas Beatie

2. Chespirito

3. Lil wayne

4. Don Omar

5. Luis Miguel

6. Vicente Fernandez

7. Juanes

8. Cristiano Ronaldo

9. Tito El Bambino

10. Ricardo Arjona

Ironically, the most searched for man this month is really a woman. Thomas Beatie, the world’s first person to conceive a child after a gender-reassignment operation, gave birth this past month to a healthy baby girl. Mexican television icon Roberto Gómez Bolaños, known to the world as Chespirito, also topped the list. Bolaños, best known for his roles as “El Chavo del Ocho” and “El Chapulín Colorado,” has been touring Latin America to present his play “11 y 12.”

In the number four slot, Puerto Rican Reggaeton star Don Omar has been cleared of all drug and weapons charges in relation to an incident dating back to 2004.The 30-year-old has been on trial in a court in Carolina, Puerto Rico for the last two weeks, after he was arrested in September 2004 by drug enforcement officers, who claim to have found him and two pals smoking marijuana. The agents also allegedly found a gun and $1,200 in cash in his possession. Portuguese footballer and heartthrob Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently plays for Manchester United, has also generated interest amidst speculation about a move to Real Madrid. Last but not least, Guatemalan singer-songwriter, Ricardo Arjona, also generated buzz as he officially launched “Fundación Adentro,” an initiative to teach music to poor children in his native Guatemala.

Every month the Yahoo! Telemundo Top 10 Searches showcases the diverse interests and concerns of U.S. Hispanics around the net, from gorgeous celebrity sightings and salacious political news to funny jokes and the latest consumer obsessions.  The monthly list includes a recap of the Top 10 Overall Searches, Top 10 Image Searches and Top 10 Searches in a revolving category, which changes monthly.  To come up with the Yahoo! Top Searches list, Yahoo! scans anonymous query logs from Yahoo! Search across a variety of categories to see what themes and trends bubble up to the surface. Individual searches are never used to develop these lists.  For more information on Yahoo! Telemundo’s Top 10 Searches, visit www.yahootelemundo.com/lomasbuscado.

“The Coca-Cola Telenovela Club celebrated the ugliest novela in the prettiest city in America this weekend. Several fans of the popular novela, “La Fea Más Bella,” were treated to a weekend getaway to Miami Beach, compliments of the latest Coca-Cola Telenovela Club consumer promotion. Fans and their guests attended a red carpet, Hollywood-style party at the popular Tantra Restaurant and Lounge on South Beach, where they met and dined with telenovela legend Angélica María and her daughter Angélica Vale.

“Our fans are such an important part of our lives and we strive to pick projects, such as ‘La Fea Más Bella,’ that they will enjoy,” said María and Vale in a joint statement. “Our association with the Coca-Cola Telenovela Club allows us to meet our fans and let them know just how much we appreciate them.”

“The Coca-Cola Telenovela Club reaches consumers online through My Coke Rewards as well as through local retail and radio promotions. With this promotion consumers have the opportunity to win prizes and experiences they may have only dreamed of,” said Reinaldo Padua, assistant vice president, Hispanic Marketing, Coca-Cola North America.

This year, the Coca-Cola Telenovela Club and Dress for Success Miami celebrated the importance of inner beauty and outer appearance, which was pivotal to the storyline of “La Fea Más Bella”. Dress for Success Miami is a women’s program that trains and suits women in Miami-Dade County who are struggling to secure and retain employment. The Coca-Cola Company gave the organization a cash donation and actual wardrobe items from the novela to auction off at future fundraising events.

“In partnering with Dress for Success Miami, the Coca-Cola Telenovela Club aims to take ‘dream making’ to a new level by making the dreams of women needing assistance in obtaining work also come true. We couldn’t be happier to work with an organization that has touched so many lives,” said Padua.

Coca-Cola North America also revealed details of the next phase of the Telenovela Club consumer promotion. Scheduled to run from September 1 to October 31, it will celebrate the novela, “Destilando Amor”. Telenovela fans will be able to redeem points for prizes related to “Destilando Amor,” such as recipe booklets, memorabilia, a flat screen television and DVDs.

In addition, participants will have another chance to enter a sweepstakes to meet their favorite celebrities during a dream weekend in Miami next year. “

“JCPenney awarded three Hispanic high school graduates each a $15,000 college scholarship for educational excellence during Univision’s “Premios Juventud” live show on Thursday, July 17, 2008. The “Premios Juventud” youth awards program is Hispanic television’s #1 awards show honoring Latin entertainment and pop culture icons as voted on by this country’s Hispanic youth. This year’s show was hosted by Univision novela stars Eduardo Santamarina and Mayrín Villanueva, along with celebrity presenters and entertainers.

In appreciation for their accomplishments, JCPenney provided the winning students a star -studded experience including a “spa day” at a local Miami, FL, JCPenney salon complete with hair, make-up and beauty services. In addition, the winners were outfitted by a celebrity stylist who illustrated how they can achieve their own red carpet Back-to-School styles from an array of JCPenney’s new Juniors and Young Men’s lifestyle brands. Each winner showcased their favorite chosen outfit on that evening’s red carpet and awards presentation. The selected winners were judged on their school grade point average, extra curricular activities and an essay on what obstacles they have overcome in their lives.

“JCPenney is passionate about celebrating educational excellence. This is why the company has partnered with Univision’s ‘Premios Juventud’ to highlight the accomplishments of Hispanic youths who are making a positive impact in their communities,” said Olivia E. Vela, multicultural marketing director for JCPenney. “We are pleased to serve as a reminder that dreams are never beyond reach for those with determination, vision and perseverance. We believe that ‘Every Day Matters’ and these winners embody the spirit and energy that brings this statement to life.”

JCPenney Scholarships were presented to:

Cecile M. Vazquez (18 years old), Los Angeles, CA: Athletic Award. The Mexican-American star athlete is pre-med bound, for California State University, Los Angeles, and will enroll in the nursing program this fall, where her scholarship will help finance her ultimate goal of becoming a Doctor in Pediatrics.

“Premios Juventud” Activities
Adding to the excitement of “Premios Juventud”, JCPenney held promotional activities leading up to and on the day of the awards show. Also, prior to the start of the extravagant event, a special VIP tent was set up for celebrity guests, JCPenney student winners and hosts, where they could relax before the evening’s performances.

Also, for the first time in “Premios Juventud” history, the awards event emphasized the importance of protecting the earth by “going green”. To focus on this monumental undertaking, the JCPenney tent was outfitted with exclusive Simply Green(TM) accents. Simply Green(TM) is an exclusive-to-JCPenney designation that assists customers in making environmentally conscious purchases.

Finally, JCPenney scholarship winners also enjoyed being a guest on the nations’ leading Spanish-language TV morning show, Univision’s “Despierta America” the morning after the event. Winners were able to share their unique stories, future goals and unforgettable experience courtesy of JCPenney.

JCPenney Gears up for Back-to-School

Dodger legend Fernando Valenzuela to be honored at inaugural “Premios Deportes” sports awards today - “Premios Deportes” will air nationally on Univision Sunday, July 20 at 3 p.m. ET/PT

“National Spanish-language television network Univision will honor Dodger Legend Fernando Valenzuela at the first annual “Premios Deportes” today at 8 p.m. The awards show will be broadcasted nationally this Sunday, July 20 at 3 p.m. on Univision. Valenzuela will be honored as one of the most prominent Hispanic athletes in history with a lifetime achievement award, “Premio Leyenda Deportiva.”

Prior to the ceremony, Valenzuela will partake in a celebrity-filled red carpet celebration at the historic Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena at 7 p.m. Hispanic sports stars who will appear alongside Valenzuela include famed boxer Oscar de la Hoya, legendary Mexican soccer goalie Jorge Campos, retired NFL player Tony Casillas, NFL Hall of Fame recipient Anthony Muñoz, former Mexican soccer coach Jesús Bracamontes, and legendary Mexican forward Enrique Borja.

One of the most storied players in Los Angeles Dodger history, pitcher Fernando Valenzuela, became the only person in Major League history to win both the Rookie of the Year and Cy Young Awards in the same season (1981). The 20 year-old was an emergency starter on Opening Day because of injuries to Jerry Reuss and Burt Hooton, but a complete-game 2-0 victory that afternoon in front of 55,000 at Dodger Stadium against the Houston Astros became the start of “Fernandomania.” Valenzuela began the campaign with an 8-0 record, including five shutouts, and by the summer was the guest of the White House in Washington D.C. at a reception hosted by the president of Mexico. Valenzuela helped the Dodgers win the World Series in 1981 and overall won 141 games with Los Angeles through 1990.

Valenzuela is now in his sixth season as a Dodger Spanish-language broadcaster. He serves as the color commentator on the Dodgers’ Spanish-radio broadcasts on KHJ/La Ranchera 930 AM alongside colleagues Pepe Yñiguez and Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín.

Univision Radio personality Eddie “Piolín” Sotelo, Univision’s Fernando Fiore of “República Deportiva,” and popular novela actress Angélica Vale will host the “Premios Deportes” gala event. “Premios Deportes” honor Hispanic athletes in ten different categories who have been selected for their character, talent and perseverance, as well as their contributions to and impact on the Hispanic community. “Premios Deportes” will air this Sunday, July 20 locally at 3 p.m. on KMEX-TV channel 34.”*

Tang offers seven new flavors to Latina mothers and families - Tang Partners with Major League Soccer and Actor Adrian Alonso to Provide Young Latinos with the Ultimate Summer Experience

Filed under [ Business ] [ Marketing ] [ Press Releases ] [ Blogante Business ] [ Blogante Business Essentials ]
Tags: ,

“Today, Tang announces a partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) to present “Verano MLS Presentado por Tang,” offering young Latinos and their families an exciting summer experience. The soccer program sets the stage for the talented, 14-year-old actor Adrian Alonso, who takes on the role as Mensajerito Tang (the Tang Messenger). Alonso will bring the excitement from the soccer field to Hispanic homes and share the news about new Tang flavors.

“Verano MLS Presentado por Tang” provides young people ages eight to 12 with a free opportunity to play soccer twice a week and receive professional training while creating a connection between participants and their favorite MLS stars. The program also serves as the platform for the debut of seven new Tang flavors. Introduced under the tagline “Los Sabores que te Llevan a Casa” (The Flavors That Take You Home), the new Tang flavors are: Horchata, Jamaica, Mango, Strawberry, Lime, Pineapple and Orange.

“‘Verano MLS Presentado por Tang’ enables young Latinos to celebrate their heritage through their passion for soccer, all while experiencing the new Tang flavors,” said Robyn Kestenbaum, brand manager for Tang. “Tang is evolving just like Latinos living in the U.S. We understand that the Latina mother is passionate about experiencing new things with her children, yet wants to share her traditions with them whether it’s through soccer or familiar flavors.”

The fun-filled experiences young people will share on the soccer field are what the enchanting Alonso hopes to capture as Mensajerito Tang. Most recently seen in the critically acclaimed film Under the Same Moon, Alonso serves as the link between the participating young people on the soccer field, the moms at home and the new Tang flavors. He will participate in on-field events in Dallas, Houston and Los Angeles and find out what young people have to say about the latest flavors.

“Mensajerito Tang is a fun project because I get to tell moms what we kids like and what we think about the new Tang flavors,” said Alonso. “The new flavors are great and the best thing is that I get to enjoy them and share them with friends on the soccer field, playing a game I love.”

Tang contains Fruitrition, which provides a selection of important vitamins found in commonly consumed fruit juice, along with calcium and Vitamin E. All seven flavors are available in one quart (four servings) envelopes. Horchata, Jamaica, Strawberry and Orange also are available in new re-sealable bags that make six quarts (24 servings) of delicious Tang. Lastly, the Orange flavor will be offered in the convenient “On The Go” sticks, which can be mixed with a 16.9 oz bottle of water. The new Tang flavors are available in select cities, including Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix.
