MTV TR3S PRESENTS THE CIRCO ROCKTASTICO TOUR FEATURING MONTE NEGRO-NEW ALBUM, CICATRIX OUT AUGUST 5th

Filed under [ Musica ] [ Press Releases ] [ Blogante Entertainment ] [ Blogante Entertainment Essentials ]
Tags: , , , ,

Los Angeles, CA—MTV Tr3s has joined forces with Monte Negro and two other California-based alternative rock bands (Astra Heights, The May Fire) to bring their diverse takes on the burgeoning Latin alternative scene to the West and Midwest for six weeks in August and September. With new records coming out on August 5th from both The May Fire (The List / self-released) and Monte Negro (Cicatrix / Epic Records), the tour kicks off on August 6th in San Diego.

The music of Monte Negro, defies a simple description. Most say melodic rock, which is true, yet there are distinct undertones and layers making it eclectic and bohemian, American yet definitely worldly. Their music has landed them in magazines such as Spin, La Banda Elástica, and Billboard, they have worked with famed producer Tone (Green Day, Carlos Santana) and played alongside a diverse line up of bands like Todos Tus Muertos, Matisyahu, 311, Coldplay, NIN, Incubus, At The Drive In, and Molotov. Monte Negro most recently performed with the Mexican alternative band Zoe and L.A.’s multiethnic band, Ozomatli. Monte Negro was also MTV Tr3s’s “Descubre & Download” artist (January through March of 2008). The band’s new release Cicatrix will be featured on The LEAK July 29th – August 5th (www.music.mtvtr3s.com).

Monte Negro is a bilingual band that has devoured enough music genres over the years to do justice to the bilingual and bicultural musicians that constitute the group. Digesting healthy portions of Jane’s Addiction, The Cure, The Clash, and the Sex Pistols, Monte Negro has also piled onto its proverbial plate Latin-alternative rockers such as Caifanes, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Maldita Vecindad, Mano Negra, Soda Stereo, and Spinetta.

Mexican-American brothers Kinski and Rodax—the vocalist and bass player—like so many first-generation Americans working toward assimilation, initially overlooked the richness of their roots. Kinksi and Rodax recruited Jason Li Shing, a Chinese-Japanese American guitarist. After trying a heavier sound with another drummer, Monte Negro hired drummer Xavier Lopez and arrived at its current line-up in 2003. Today, Monte Negro is finally producing the sound they describe as an “amalgamation of styles filtering through our creative sides.” Pop sensibilities mix with darker experimentation to give the listener an acoustic journey through the Monte Negro landscape. Monte Negro’s goal is simple: play for a lot of people and get a reaction.

BIOGRAFIA

“More than a century and a half after Mexico lost Texas to the United States, Virgilio Garza wants a piece of it back.

A “Texas for Sale” sign and cowgirls in boots and white hats greeted Garza at the Convex center in Monterrey, Nuevo León, this month. Garza, a Monterrey developer and investor, was in search of foreclosed U.S. property to buy. “*

“Mendoza, a 15-year veteran of the Mexican bull ring, will be among featured matadors at the first Houston-area bullfight in more than two decades, an event, promoters say, designed to raise money for scholarships for Hispanic students.

“Everybody who steps inside that ring has that feeling of excitement,” Mendoza said. “It has something to do with the danger, but also with confidence. When a bull is coming toward me, I know I can avoid him with the cape.”

Joining Mendoza in the ring at Rosenberg’s Fort Bend County Fairgrounds will be famed Mexican matador Enrique Delgado, the “Cyclone of Monterrey.”"*

Florida woman’s fight with UPS touches nerve over security level

“A UPS envelope destined for South Florida is sitting in a warehouse in Louisville, Ky., instead threatening to set off an international dispute that touches on both immigration and national security.

Cristina Bustos, 33, of Bonita Springs said relatives in Monterrey, Mexico, shipped her the envelope in late March. It contains the birth certificates of two relatives living in Florida who want to apply for their Mexican passports at the consulate in South Miami, she said.

The envelope never arrived. Bustos said she received a voice-mail message from a UPS employee in Louisville telling her that it was being detained there. The reason: It contains official identification documents from another country, and she needs to identify herself further before receiving them.“*

Centris Launches On-Demand Interpreter Service

“A growing number of limited-English speakers, as well as the businesses and organizations that serve them, will now find it easier to communicate thanks to Centris’s On-Demand Interpreter Service. Centris, a leading provider of high-quality multilingual call center services, today introduced a new, over-the-phone language interpretation service that connects limited-English speakers with specially trained Spanish interpreters who facilitate communication between the consumer and a business’s English-speaking customer representative.

Centris Interpreter Service is “On Demand!” - Subscribers have access to Spanish - English interpreter when they need one. The service doesn’t have to be scheduled in advance and is available twenty-four hours a day, 365 days per year. Centris customers initially set up an account online at www.centrisinterpreter.com and then use the service by simply calling a toll-free phone number. A specially trained interpreter will greet the customer in the appropriate language and then establish a three-way call with the requested business or individual.

According to Jamie Maddox, CEO of Centris Information Services, “Nearly 15% of the U.S. population is Hispanic and the percentage is projected to grow to over 20% by 2020. With Centris On-Demand Interpreter Service, Spanish speakers can communicate in their own language to financial institutions, health care organizations, and utility companies - any business or individual - affordably, whenever there is a need. Conversely, English-speakers can easily engage an interpreter to better communicate with the growing number of limited-English speaking businesses and service providers.”

For as little as $3.99 for a five minute call (only $0.75 per each additional minute), Centris customers can have a Spanish interpreter as close as their speed dial.

From a business’s perspective, the service offers an intelligent way to attract and provide superior customer service to an increasingly affluent Hispanic consumer segment. In addition, it provides a cost-effective means to meet government regulatory compliance policies mandating organizations to provide services to limited-English speakers in their native language.

Kelly McDonald, president of McDonald Marketing, a firm specializing in helping U.S. companies become “Latino-ready,” said, “English-to-Spanish communication, and vice versa, requires a meaning-for-meaning interpretation. Many ideas that are expressed in one or two English words may require several phrases to convey the concept in Spanish. That’s why you may notice that non-English conversations seem to take longer.”

Because of its operations in Longview, Texas and Monterrey, Mexico, Centris is uniquely positioned to provide interpreter services that are both technically accurate and culturally appropriate.
