If Hispanics/Latinos really seek change or the fulfillment of the promise of power brought about by demographic numbers that are a reality in this country (even without immigration), then there must also be a concerted effort of education, not only of our youth (Nearly 25% of Children Younger Than 5 Are Latino) in the traditional sense of education but of all of us in a new way. We must embrace the internet and technology and utilize them not only for fun and games but for a renaissance of knowledge/a news revolución or the communication of news/info for personal & societal growth.

In truth, this amazing country needs us at our best regardless of whoever says what. With all the baby boomers retiring this country faces an interesting future (see: Census: Fewer young workers for one example) where we may welcome immigrants in the future. Those of us who are already here must be ready to help both the immigrants and this country in its continuing evolution as a leading democracy. This country and its citizens (Hispanic or not) must not fear change (this is in my opinion what lurks below the anti-immigrant movement). Change is how our country was formed. Yes, change can be hard but to push against it is both futile and counter-productive. Instead, I believe that we should all try to be as smart as we can to mitigate how we deal with change because this isn't just about immigration reform but the future of this country.

I may be strumming the same tune that I always do, but that is because I feel strongly that with knowledge and the utilization of that knowledge (i.e. education) we could actually do/be something and help shape a wonderful future for this great country.
