Forget about Shakira. The Latin Electronic/Funk Mixtape-Style Album Features Remixes and Tracks from Nortec Collective, Thievery Corporation, David Byrne, Pacha Massive, Sergio Mendes and Many Other Leading Acts Nacional Records is proud to present Raul Campos’ (host of the influential “Nocturna” show on Santa Monica public radio station KCRW 89.9FM/ KCRW.com) “Loteria Beats Mixtape, Vol. 1”. The album, to be released on October 23rd, is the first of its kind in this genre with the flow of a mixtape and features a cooler-than-cool list of not only acclaimed electronic acts from around the globe like Nortec Collective (Tijuana), The Pinker Tones (Barcelona), Pacha Massive (The Bronx) and Mexican Institute of Sound (Mexico City), but also rare remixes of such artists as Thievery Corporation, David Byrne and Sergio Mendes as well as up-and-comers Cuarto Poder, Los Rumbers, and Choc Quib Town. It’s only fitting that the first Latin alternative/electronic mixtape of this kind comes from Campos, who along with KCRW music director Nic Harcourt has been continually recognized for introducing Latin Alternative artists to a wider audience and supporting bands like Café Tacuba, Ozomatli and Julieta Venegas throughout their careers. "Thank goodness that day two of the LAMC started with its first panel discussion at 11. Although the LAMC gets it right in not forcing conference participants to choose between simultaneous events, there was one regrettable overlap. It almost killed me to choose between catching one of Puerto Rico’s most exciting exports, synth-Brit-pop rockers Circo made up by members of the former, excellent Cure-esque band with a great name Manjar de Los Dioses or Feast of the Gods and witnessing a predominantly electronic duo like Pacha Massive leave the loops and Mac at home and strip down to the bone during the LAMC acoustic showcase."
