"Hispanic financial expert Julie Stav has joined the got milk? campaign to educate Hispanic moms on the value of proper nutrition and making smart choices while at the grocery store. As a mom and trusted financial expert, Julie sets a great example as the "gatekeeper" of her family's expenses and nutrition, and is determined to teach moms how to stretch that dollar while ensuring their family's wellness.

"As a financial expert, I take great pleasure in making sure our community is an intelligent consumer and makes informed purchases when going grocery shopping. One of the best investments a mom can make in her family's wellness is giving her kids 3 glasses of low fat or fat free milk a day. Many people don't know that as nature's wellness drink, milk has 9 essential nutrients ... all for less than 25 cents a glass(1)!," says Julie.

THE MATH IS SIMPLE: MILK IS THE BIGGEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
It's no secret that the economy has affected everyone, including Hispanics, so it's important for them to know how to make wise food choices when it comes to prices and nutrition. As got milk?'s latest celebrity advocate, Julie hopes to educate Hispanic moms on the fact that by choosing milk, they are not only getting an economical value, but a nutritional one as well.

As nature's wellness drink, milk is naturally nutrient rich like no other beverage. For example, the calcium found in low fat and fat free milk can help build and maintain strong bones and teeth. Vitamin D helps your body better absorb calcium, potassium helps maintain normal blood pressure and the protein in milk, along with exercise, can help build muscle.

Because research indicates that Hispanic moms are more likely than
non-Hispanic moms to reduce or cut milk purchases because of budget concerns(2), our money savvy mom recommends that they write out a shopping list before heading out to the grocery store. "Writing shopping lists help Latina moms not only evaluate the nutritional value of what they're feeding their kids, but it also helps them take account of the money they spend on senseless items -- like sugary drinks that come at a major expense for their health and wallets," explains Julie. "Considering how priceless their family's wellness is, Latina moms can't beat the economical and nutritional combination milk offers, including 9 essential nutrients for less than a quarter a glass!"

GALLONS OF WELLNESS
This summer, Hispanic moms will be able to enter the "Galones de Bienestar" instant win game for a chance to win a year's supply of her favorite ally when it comes to her family's financial and physical wellness: Milk! There will be 24 instant winners from 7/8/09-8/1/09. In addition, participants will also be entered for a chance to win the Grand Prize of $1,000 plus a year's supply of milk(3).
The Visionary Awards dinner brought together leaders in business, media, public service, and education to honor champions of economic empowerment in all of its many forms, from those who have raised awareness about the need for economic and financial literacy, to those who succeeded in their chosen field by using sound economic decision-making and have turned that success into good public works.
Stav reaches millions of listeners everyday with "Tu Dinero con Julie Stav," which is syndicated nationally on Univision Radio, delivering practical, life-changing financial advice. Stav also conducts consumer and personal finance segments twice weekly on Univision Network's top rated national Spanish-language morning show, "Despierta America (Wake Up America)."
