As the Second Annual Eva’s Heroes Celebrity Golf Tournament approaches, Hollywood celebrities and friends of actress Eva Longoria Parker have confirmed attendance in support of her non-profit organization, Eva’s Heroes.

The Second Annual Eva’s Heroes Celebrity Golf Tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Westin La Cantera Resort and Course, nestled in the Texas Hill Country, followed by a red carpet and post-tournament event hosted by Master of Ceremonies Mario Lopez, host of MTV’s Top Pop Group. The afternoon event will feature a silent and live auction, plus a one-of-a-kind fashion show sponsored by Dillard’s and starring the students of Eva’s Heroes.

“San Antonio has embraced Eva’s Heroes with open arms and we are fortunate to be part of a community that cares so much,” says Eva Longoria Parker, founder of Eva’s Heroes. “After the tremendous success of the first golf tournament, Eva’s Heroes is ready for another wonderful event in San Antonio.”

Even with celebrities on hand, the real “stars” of the day are the children and young adults who will be on hand to thank guests for helping build and expand the unique programs and offerings of the Eva’s Heroes Enrichment Centers, the first of which recently moved its operations to the Nellie M. Reddix Center this fall.

“We are so proud of the strides Eva’s Heroes has made in the last year,” says Christiane Perkins-Garcia, executive director of Eva’s Heroes. “We look forward to our continued growth and couldn’t have done it without the generosity of our sponsors and supporters in the community.”

A number of celebrities will be on hand to play golf and mingle, including: actor Mark Walberg; former San Antonio Spurs player Sean Elliott; My Boys actor Kyle Howard; MSNBC‘s Courtney Hazlett; Amaury Nolasco, Prison Break; Sam Page, Mad Men; Kyle Maclachlan, Desperate Housewives; and actor Richard Grieco, 21 Jump Street. Also joining the fun will be San Antonio Spurs players, including Tony Parker, Robert Horry and Tim Duncan.

On Tuesday, OCTOBER 7, 2008, PADRES Contra El Cancer (PADRES), a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families, will celebrate its Eighth Annual Fund-Raising Gala, “EL SUENO DE ESPERANZA.” The ceremony’s theme, “An Evening for Celebration and HOPE” will pay tribute to PADRES’ extraordinary children and families. FARMERS INSURANCE GROUP (FARMERS) joins forces with PADRES for a consecutive year as the Title Sponsor. To start off day two I realized that for the next two days I would have trudge about 2 miles across Denver to get my media credentials. (Lots of 2s in that sentence) For some crazy reason the DNC has made all bloggers and some other segments of the media do this everyday. Strange.

So I made it there, waited in line, got my credentials and then hoofed it back to the Colorado Convention Center where I had to go in to just cool off. I haven’t mentioned this before but I am hauling a good-sized backpack with me everywhere I go with my laptop and assorted blog-worthy gear.

Once I had cooled off I was determined to get to the Pepsi Center and blog away but by some happy circumstance as I was strolling down the street I look up and see a big marque for the Latino Leaders Network Luncheon. Now I had known about this event but didn’t know where it was going to be held. I had called and e-mailed to find out and no one had ever responded.

I don’t look a gift horse in the mouth so I went right in and flashed my press pass and my best smile and got in. (not that my smile had anything to do with it) It turned out to be a good event honoring Federico Peña the co-chair of Obama’s national campaign and former mayor of Denver. Lots of politician were there as well as Eva Longoria-Parker.

Others that spoke include: Senator Kenneth McClintock from Puerto Rico, Senator Leticia Van de Putte from Texas, Janet Murguia from NCLR, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Ken Salazar and then Federico Peña. I was most impressed by Bill Richardson and Federico Peña.

Right before the event I met a woman who worked with the "Hispanic Media Assistance Team" and I was so happy that someone was there to help organize and coordinate things because truthfully communication and information are so hard to come by that you get used to it here fast. All the same, I really was happy to see someone, anyone trying to do something afterall I am all about easy access to organized information.

Afterwards, I hung around watching the media frenzy and while not wanting to be part of it, I felt the pull to met some of these leaders. I did make a few contacts etc., so it was fine.

After that I had lunch as I had been watching everyone else eat their lunches and had developed a mighty fine appetite by then. Finally made it to the Pepsi Center and setup camp and somehow managed to post 80+ stories in between chatting with other bloggers, journalist etc. I have to admit that it was a good day and I thought Hillary’s speech was very good.

Now I am headed to see Pancho Sanchez and if for some reason I can’t get in there is another event/party put on by the National Latino Institute but that is a good stretch of the legs. (edit: didn’t make it to either) I guess it is good that I am getting so much exercise but my feet are hurting. Tomorrow is another big day and I finally got an invite to the big Voto Latino party.

Lesson for the day :: Again levels of access - but maybe if you are in the right place at the right time and either know someone or have a big blog and a great smile some barriers can melt away.

Among the Best Dressed men are David Beckman, taking the top honors, along with actors George Clooney, Javier Bardem and singer Daddy Yankee.
The issue also includes a ‘who wore it best’ section, putting celebrities head to head for readers to decide who looks best in the same dress. Among them: Christina Aguilera vs. Amanda Bynes in a sleek Herve Leger, and Jennifer Garner vs. Eva Longoria in a strapless Gucci.

David Archuleta on Top
David Archuleta, the first Hispanic contestant to make it as a finalist on American Idol, talks to PEOPLE en Espanol about his newfound fame, how he almost did not make it, and his plans for the future. “I’ve always imagined myself on stage,” says Archuleta, who at 17-years-old, placed second, after David Cook, on the hit reality show series.
Even after millions of votes and his “Archie” fan club, he still remains humble. “I thought nobody liked to hear me sing,” says Archuleta. However, his accomplishments are nothing short of a miracle. About a year and a half ago, Archuleta received medical treatment for paralysis in his vocal cords. “The doctor said there is somebody up there who wants him to sing because, medically speaking, he should not be able to,” says Archuleta’s father.

Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso (literally, Without Breasts There Is No Paradise), is a Spanish-language telenovela that debuted on Telemundo on July 16. A hit in Colombia, the telenovela tells the story of an attractive young prostitute who seeks massive breast implants to attract a rich cocaine smuggler. The show was one of the network’s most-watched premieres ever and, not surprisingly, nabbed this month’s number one spot on the Top 10 Overall Searches. Also topping the list was a group of beautiful women, including Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza, Italian actress Monica Bellucci, and Aracely Arambula, who just announced she is pregnant with boyfriend Luis Miguel’s second child. Rounding out the list was former FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) captive Ingrid Betancourt, whose recent rescue after six-and-a-half years of captivity created a worldwide media frenzy.

The number one most searched for image on Yahoo! Telemundo in July was Tattoos – tattoos have experienced a resurgence in popularity in many parts of the world, particularly in North America, South America and Europe. A survey published by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 50 have a tattoo.

Victoria’s Secret Supermodel Adriana Lima, an ever-popular name on the Top Searches lists, is still making headlines after it was announced that she and basketball star boyfriend, Marko Jaric of the Minnesota Timberwolves, will be tying the knot. Following in Lima’s footsteps – four more models were among the most searched for images in July: British lingerie model (and reality TV star) Gemma Atkinson; Uruguayan-Mexican actress/model Barbara Mori, star of the hit telenovela remake, Rubi; as well as model Isabel Madow, known for her appearances on the Mexican edition of Big Brother VIP. Mexican actress and model Vanessa Guzman (a former Miss Mexico) also peaked users’ interest as she recently went public with information that she and boyfriend Uberto Bondoni, an actor from Uruguay, were blackmailed for a sex tape that was allegedly taken from their home in Mexico.

Ironically, the most searched for man this month is really a woman. Thomas Beatie, the world’s first person to conceive a child after a gender-reassignment operation, gave birth this past month to a healthy baby girl. Mexican television icon Roberto Gómez Bolaños, known to the world as Chespirito, also topped the list. Bolaños, best known for his roles as “El Chavo del Ocho” and “El Chapulín Colorado,” has been touring Latin America to present his play “11 y 12.”

In the number four slot, Puerto Rican Reggaeton star Don Omar has been cleared of all drug and weapons charges in relation to an incident dating back to 2004.The 30-year-old has been on trial in a court in Carolina, Puerto Rico for the last two weeks, after he was arrested in September 2004 by drug enforcement officers, who claim to have found him and two pals smoking marijuana. The agents also allegedly found a gun and $1,200 in cash in his possession. Portuguese footballer and heartthrob Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently plays for Manchester United, has also generated interest amidst speculation about a move to Real Madrid. Last but not least, Guatemalan singer-songwriter, Ricardo Arjona, also generated buzz as he officially launched “Fundación Adentro,” an initiative to teach music to poor children in his native Guatemala.
