"Advertisers and listeners alike will enjoy and appreciate El Cucuy's lively, entertaining and uplifting program, which has enabled him to achieve tremendous success in the Hispanic market in the US. His faithful fans have admired his show 'El Cucuy de la Manana' which is the cornerstone of his career and we are eager to be a part of his new era in radio."

"I am excited to be back on the airwaves and join the Albuquerque community and be the morning drive-time voice for millions of listeners," said Almendarez.
With decades of radio experience and an exceptional ability to connect with his audience, Almendarez has won the hearts of millions of people every morning. According to Arbitron research, beginning the Fall 1986 book, Renan holds the record for the #1 morning drive-time show in Los Angeles, regardless of language, for 24 consecutive Arbitron surveys. Renan brings laughter and hope to millions of listeners. His mastery of communication allows him to connect with his audience and to also interview world renowned political and religious leaders. Additionally, he is an extraordinary humanitarian providing relief to victims of natural disasters across the world and also helping with causes close to home.

"One Way Communications announces today, after more than two decades of an illustrious career as one of the top-ranked talk show hosts in the country, Renan Almendarez Coello, El Cucuy de la Manana, is leaving La Raza 97.9 FM, the radio station that he has been at for the last five years.

This doesn't mean he is retiring, only changing course. Monday, September 15, 2008 is the last day the "Master Communicator" will transmit from the La Raza studio (Spanish Broadcasting System, Los Angeles). El Cucuy is going to follow his dream of building his own radio network. He currently co-owns a radio station in New Mexico. Freedom from the rigors of a daily live radio show will also enable him to have time to develop new talent under his record label, Michel Productions.

Mr. Almendarez will continue production of his television show, Azte pa ca, on Azteca America and his humanitarian work through the El Cucuy Foundation that has projects in the United States, Mexico, Central America and Indonesia. He will also be working with Clinica Mi Doctor in Tijuana, Mexico that focuses on bringing medical services to the Hispanic community on both sides of the border which has been his life-long dream.

El Cucuy was born in Honduras and came to the United States with one goal; to become a radio personality and to contribute to his community. Due to his astonishing ability to communicate with his audience, Renan's career sky rocketed to heights never seen before in some of the most difficult markets in the United States. "
