"Latina Style Magazine, the premier magazine addressing the needs of established Latinas & Women entrepreneurs in the U.S has partnered with Doctor.com. In September of 2008, Latina Style Magazine in connection with iWeev launched the Latina Style Health Care website (http://www.health.latinastyle.com) to become the leading health information provider for the professional Latina. Because Latina professionals dedicate much of their time to their careers and families the website is committed to creating tools that will help readers better manage their health care needs and the health care needs of their families. The Latina Style Health care website also features a segment called “Latinas in Healthcare: Addressing Disparity”, highlighting Latinas that are making a difference in their field of study.

“We hope to bring light to an important topic in our community as disparity by ethnicity is believed to result from complex interactions among genetic variations, environmental factors, and specific health behaviors” said Martita Mestey, Owner of iWeev.

The partnership with Doctor.com, which was pioneered and managed by iWeev, a website offering the most comprehensive multicultural online solutions, connecting like-minded organizations to work together on concrete actions that expand their access and knowledge potential, will give LATINA Style subscribers a remarkably easy-to-use physician directory that lets consumers quickly find a doctor or other health care professional.

Doctor.com's proprietary database includes detailed profiles for more than a million physicians, dentists, nurses, chiropractors, therapists, alternative medicine practitioners and other health professionals. Users can search the directory to find providers who match criteria such as medical specialty, health insurance affiliation, board certification, gender, etc. Recently the company launched the first nationwide doctor search API, allowing any approved website to easily integrate Doctor.com’s comprehensive search capabilities at no cost.

“We’re very excited to have Latina Style Health as one of our first API partners,” said Andrei Zimiles, General Manager of Doctor.com, “iWeev did a fantastic job with the integration and we’re confident that the Latina Style community will find our embedded doctor search features to be of value.”

"oday, in Los Angeles, Univision, People en Espanol, Ser Padres and impreMedia health expert Aliza Lifshitz, M.D., better known to the Latino community as la Doctora Aliza(TM), announced the launch of her Spanish-language health hub www.VidaySalud.com(TM).

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090604/SF28145)

"VidaySalud.com(TM) is the largest source of health information and wellness tools in Spanish on the web. It includes Health A to Z, the Harvard Medical School's searchable database of symptoms, diseases and treatments, as well as original content, updated daily and created especially with the U.S. Hispanic community in mind," said Dr. Lifshitz.

VidaySalud.com(TM) includes channels on Kids', Teens', Men's and Women's health, Diet & Nutrition, Exercise, Pregnancy, Diabetes, Heart Health, Cancer, Stress & Mental Health, Sexual Health, Health Insurance, Health & Beauty and Healthy Living. A special section on Quackery informs users about how to protect themselves from unscrupulous promoters of unproven cures, remedies, diets and nutritional supplements. Additional sections will be developed to reflect the Latino community's health interests.

In addition, eleven biweekly email newsletters on a variety of health topics are available through free registration.

"Every month there are millions of searches for health information in Spanish on the web," Dr. Lifshitz added, "And those searches turn up very little of use to Spanish-speaking consumers. Not a week goes by when I am not asked by my patients, my viewers, listeners or readers why there isn't a credible source of health information in Spanish that they can turn to at the time they most need it. So, I have decided to launch VidaySalud.com(TM)."

"Our goal," stressed Dr. Lifshitz, "is to enhance the relationships between Latino patients and their physicians by giving Hispanics the information, tools and skills they need to better communicate with their doctors, to ensure better compliance with physician instructions and to deliver better health outcomes."

"No one is more trusted on health by the Latino community than la Doctora Aliza(TM)," said Carl Kravetz, the site's publisher. "With her as Editor in Chief and with science-based content delivered in the warm, caring style she is known for, VidaySalud.com(TM) will be an invaluable resource for Latino families.

About la Doctora Aliza:

Dr. Aliza A. Lifshitz, Editor in Chief of VidaySalud.com(TM), is a renowned physician, author and health reporter. Dr. Lifshitz is the public face of the Univision television network's Peabody Award-winning health initiative Enterate: Salud es Vida. She also appears on the network's Primer Impacto, the top rated Spanish-language television news magazine. Her live call-in program, El Consultorio de la Dra. Aliza, airs weekly on the Univision Radio network. Dr. Lifshitz writes regular monthly columns for People en Espanol and for Ser Padres. Her weekly column is syndicated in Spanish-language newspapers throughout the country. Her monthly column in the Vista bilingual supplement runs in 29 newspapers nationwide.

In addition to her activities in the media, Dr. Lifshitz maintains a full-time private practice in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and was President of the California Hispanic Medical Association an unprecedented four terms.
