Miami, Julio 21 del 2008 -  Luego de terminar con éxito una extensa gira de promoción por los Estados Unidos; visitando territorios como Puerto Rico, Miami  y Nueva York,  el cantautor Colombiano CABAS recibió un gran reconocimiento por parte del  Concejo Municipal de la ciudad de Nueva York este pasado jueves 17 de julio - en el marco de la celebración de los 198 años de Independencia de Colombia.  El cantante recibió este gran homenaje de manos del Honorable Concejal Hiram Monserrate, Primer Concejal Latino en Queens.
“Me siento súper agradecido y honrado por este reconocimiento que me hace el gobierno de los Estados Unidos, y sobre todo la ciudad de Nueva York. Yo tuve la oportunidad de vivir dos  años allí y guardo gratos recuerdos de esta gran ciudad” comento el artista.

Luego de esta celebración, el cantante regreso a Miami a cumplir con varias actividades de su agenda promocional y partió a primera hora, del día sábado, hacia Medellín - a formar parte del majestuoso Concierto Nacional por la Paz en celebración del 20 de Julio – día de la Independencia de Colombia.  CABAS fue el artista invitado a cerrar este gran concierto en la ciudad de Medellín ante más de 50 mil personas.
Vale la pena mencionar que su hit radial ‘Bonita” lleva mas de 21 semanas ocupando el puesto #1 a nivel radial en su país natal  - Colombia – convirtiendo su mas reciente álbum “Amores Difíciles” en uno de los mas vendidos y escuchados en Colombia. “Bonita” de igual manera ocupa los primeros lugares en Bolivia, Argentina y Republica Dominicana respectivamente.

Miami, FL, Junio 10 del 2008  –CABAS, el gran artista Colombiano, considerado como uno de los grandes del momento en Latinoamérica, nos presenta hoy su más reciente producción “Amores Difíciles”, el cuarto álbum de su carrera musical, grabado en Madrid, España.  Este álbum fue producido por el conocido músico, cantante, agitador, DJ, mezclador, productor y nominado cinco veces al Grammy Latino, Carlos Jean. “Amores Difíciles” fue masterizado en Los Angeles, CA.

“Este fue un proyecto que comenzó hace unos dos o tres años, y de acuerdo al artista, “Amores Difíciles” es bastante diferente a sus previas grabaciones.  Se enfoca más en los mensajes, en la canción.  Es mucho mas especifico, orgánico y al punto.” comenta CABAS.

“Me sentí muy bien trabajando con Carlos Jean. Las canciones crecieron muchisimo y creo que es un álbum completamente nuevo; algo que es muy difícil hacer hoy en día ya que todo esta inventado.  Esta es la continuación de una evolución que comencé hace un tiempo, de a poco fui poniendo distancia entre el sonido “tropi-pop” y yo, un estilo que ha llegado a ser comercial y predecible”, agrega el artista.

En Colombia, este disco lleva más de cuatro semanas en el puesto #1 en ventas y #1 en radio.  En pasadas semanas  CABAS recibió disco de Oro en Bogota por este logro con “Amores Difíciles”.

Esta producción trae una calidad de música que no solamente será gozada por los seguidores de CABAS sino que también por todos aquellos que disfrutan de la buena música.

Después de 13 semanas, CABAS y su sencillo BONITA, de su nuevo álbum AMORES DIFICILES, siguen en el número #1 de las 100 canciones más sonadas de la semana en su país natal Colombia.

“Assistant professor Leopoldo Cabassa is taking on two research grants. One is aimed at identifying the relationship between the Hispanic population and depression care and the other at the relationship between the Hispanic population and diabetes.

The most recent study, funded by a $36,000 grant from the Frances G. and Ernest P. Larson Endowed Fund for Innovative Research, is a continuation of Cabassa’s previous work exploring the Hispanic population’s perceptions of depression and their attitudes toward traditional types of depression care, such as counseling and medication.”
