‘No one is exempt,’ Rankin tells Hispanics – Southern Baptists

"Hispanics play an important role in the world missions strategy of Southern Baptists in South America, Jerry Rankin, president of the International Mission Board, told more than 100 pastors and leaders at a June 9 luncheon prior to the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in Indianapolis.

"I feel very much at home with people who speak Spanish," said Rankin, who recently returned from a two-week trip into the Amazon basin of Peru and Ecuador.

Noting his concern about the "remaining lostness of our world and the urgency of reaching [the lost] with the Gospel," Rankin urged the audience not to shy away from the Great Commission."

Oklahoma Baptists vow to continue ministering to illegal immigrants

"Messengers to the annual meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma passed a resolution emphasizing non-discriminating ministry to illegal immigrants and adopted a record budget of $24.6 million.

“Finishing the Task” was the theme of the convention, which brought almost 900 messengers to First Baptist Church of Moore."

"Llego la Hora is aired on California's Telemundo Channel 33 every Saturday and Sunday from 6-7 a.m., with different programming each day. Each one-hour program consists of 13- to 20-minute segments of Bible teaching, preaching or counseling, with professional music performances in between. Segment content, on such themes as marriage, family, women or finances, comes from various speakers, ranging from seminary professors to a former World Cup soccer broadcaster who's now a preacher. The goal is to provide biblical content that reaches people for Jesus, Pulido said. They also try to include the five purposes of the church, as popularized by Rick Warren and Saddleback Church -– worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and missions."
