Sister programs produced by American Latino Syndication, a division of LATV Networks, are recognized for honors in the Best National Informational Program Category

LOS ANGELES, July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- LATV announces the double nomination of its sister programs American Latino TV and LatiNation, each nominated in the Best National Informational Program Category for the 26th Annual Imagen Awards. The Imagen Foundation is the, Latino non-profit organization which promotes and honors positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino cultures in entertainment.

"I can't tell you how excited and proud I am that we were nominated for not one, but two Imagen Awards this season," said David Morales, Vice President Sales & Distribution of American Latino Syndication. "For the first time in a long time, American Latino and LatiNation have been nominated in the same category for Best National Informational Program. To receive a double nomination in the 9th and 7th seasons of these shows, it feels great!"

Not wavering in its commitment to offer quality programming to its bilingual and bicultural 18-49 viewer demographic, the sister programs are produced by American Latino Syndication, a division of LATV Networks, the national bilingual entertainment network. The award-winning nationally syndicated programs air in tandem in more than 90 cities across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, including parts of Canada bordering the U.S.

This recognition serves as a second consecutive nomination in the same category and fifth nomination overall, with three wins in 2003, 2004 and 2005 for American Latino TV, a weekly cultural lifestyle program that set the standard for highlighting American Latino culture through entertainment, the arts and sciences, and education and sports.

"It's been a long time coming for LatiNation to get the recognition it deserves," said Eyal Shemtov, Executive Producer, about the English-language program that takes an entertaining look at the impact of U.S. Latino culture in everything from underground artists, music, fashion, and the experiences of being a young 2nd or 3rd generation Latino. "Both shows have progressed so much in the past year that 2012 is going to be a big year for American Latino Syndication, so be on the lookout for more good news from us."

About LATV:

LATV is the only remaining Latino-owned TV network in the Hispanic television space. Its programming primarily targets U.S.-born Latinos, with content that features a combination of originally produced shows as well as licensed content that has never before been seen in the U.S. LATV's fully-owned subsidiary, American Latino Syndication, produces and distributes "American Latino" and "LatiNation," two award-winning, Latino-themed TV programs that are broadcast on general market stations in over 100 cities nationwide.

LATV Networks announced today that American Latino and LatiNation, its nationally syndicated half-hour television weeklies, will debut new seasons of their long-running shows beginning this weekend, October 2 - 3.

"As American Latino approaches a decade of national presence on-air, the U.S. Hispanic community can take pride in what this accomplishment represents," said David Morales, LATV Vice President of Sales & Distribution. "The show's popularity has passed the test of time and, together with LatiNation, it has proven that positive and uplifting portrayals of Latinos on national television are a win-win for broadcasters, advertisers and the viewing public."

American Latino's record 9th season will premiere in 100 markets, representing over 85 % of Hispanic homes and 75 million total TV homes. LatiNation, in its 7th season, will be seen in 86 markets, reaching over 82 % of Hispanic homes and 65 million total homes. Both shows target the rapidly growing English speaking U.S.-born Hispanic market.

"Despite a distribution environment that has remained challenging due to the slow recovery of the economy, our shows have retained their relevance and remain in high demand as the preferred vehicle for marketers to reach second- and later-generation Latinos in this country," Morales said.

In its upcoming season, LatiNation will feature a dynamic new host, Alexis de la Rocha , who will join New York-based host Jose Mangin, a fixture on the show since it launched seven years ago. American Latino will continue to be headlined by its popular young host, Valery Ortiz, who begins her second year after taking over from previous host, Daisy Fuentes.

American Latino TV and LatiNation, award-winning, English-language Latino themed TV programs are part of LatiNation, LLC, and a subsidiary of LATV Networks. For more information, please go to www.AmericanLatino.tv.

"American Latino Syndication, a wholly-owned division of Los Angeles-based LATV Networks, announced today that TV personality Daisy Fuentes is hosting and co-executive producing "American Latino TV" this coming Fall 2009. The historic eighth season of the nationally syndicated half-hour weekly begins airing the first weekend of October.

"Last Spring we shot a segment for the show with Daisy telling the story of her inspirational transition from starlet to businesswoman, and I think we both just realized that she was a perfect fit," said David Morales, Executive Producer of both "American Latino" and its companion show "LatiNation." "Daisy is proud to be an American Latina and the shows have always been about the extraordinary accomplishments of people in our community."

American Latino, the original "in-culture" English-language TV show targeted to U.S.-born Latinos (over 60 percent of all U.S. Latinos), is seen in over 100 cities, representing over 81 million homes. The show is broadcast to over 92 percent of Hispanic TV homes, making it second only to Spanish-language television giant Univision Network for distribution of Hispanic-targeted TV programming.

"I've always been a fan of American Latino because I relate to the people that are featured and feel inspired by the stories they share," said Daisy Fuentes. "My culture is a huge part of who I am, and the show captures this perspective in a very entertaining way, week after week."

Daisy will co-executive produce the magazine-format program, which will add to an impressive portfolio of accomplishments over her career. She became a TV star when MTV signed her as a VJ in the US and Latin America. She was the first Latina to sign a worldwide contract with Revlon, and now Daisy Fuentes is an American brand which includes an empire of quality products like sportswear, fragrances and bedding as well as the new Daisy Fuentes Pilates for Nintendo's popular Wii Fit. She's been on countless beauty and fashion magazine covers, the latest being the cover of Latina magazine's August 2009 edition.

American Latino and LatiNation, award-winning, English-language Latino themed TV programs are part of American Latino Syndication, and a subsidiary of LATV Networks. They are seen in over 100 cities nationwide as well as the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

"American Latino Syndication (ALS), which produces nationally syndicated magazine shows "American Latino TV" (7th Season), "LatiNation" (5th Season), and the upcoming scripted comedy "Treviño" (2010), is proud to announce the hiring of Patria Cervantes as Account Executive in their New York office.

Cervantes joins ALS from Seventeen Magazine, where she was Salesperson of the Year in 2007. At ALS, she will focus initially on the Beauty and Fashion/Retail categories, segments which have experienced significant year-over-year growth in spending targeted towards Hispanic customers.

"Beauty and Fashion campaigns should integrate perfectly into our shows' strong cultural and inspirational appeal," said David Morales, Executive Producer & Vice President of American Latino Syndication. "Patria brings many years of success in selling this category, which will be invaluable as we consolidate our dominance in content for U.S.-born Latinos and expand into Latino-themed, mainstream programming initiatives."

Cervantes spent the first 8 years of her career as part of the founding team that launched Latina Magazine, and went on to become the Beauty Manager at Vibe Magazine, before joining Seventeen. Born and raised in The Bronx, New York, Cervantes is a graduate of Wesleyan University and a two-time triathlete.

"American Latino TV and LatiNation, the nationally syndicated TV programs for U.S.-born Hispanics, announced today that both shows will debut their new seasons in a record number of cities beginning this weekend, October 4th through 5th. American Latino TV's new season will premiere in an all-time high of 105 cities representing over 92 percent of Hispanic homes and over 70 percent of all U.S. TV homes. LatiNation will be seen in over 85 cities reaching over 88 percent of Hispanic homes and 65 million U.S. homes.
"This year has been the most successful year in the history of these shows in terms of advertising revenue growth and number of affiliates. As the Hispanic population has spread across the U.S., so have our programs. More viewers than ever will have the opportunity to enjoy culturally aware content in a positive format all too rare in today's television environment," said Robert G. Rose, executive producer of the shows. "With each new season, our programs evolve to reflect the changing and rapidly growing U.S. born Hispanic market. We're getting bigger and better, telling stories that are relevant not only to American Latinos but all Americans."
American Latino TV, the flagship program is headed into its seventh season with an innovative look. Shows will be hosted in a new studio with a bicoastal, co-hosted environment featuring Los Angeles host Jeannette Sandoval and New York host, Julian Dujarric. Freshly produced, weekly segments are being launched as part of the new look, including trivia testing viewers' knowledge of Latino culture. In addition, humorous and informative man-on-the- street style segments entitled "Viewer's Voice" have been added where participants help break down stereotypes and misinformation on topics as diverse as Hispanic urban legends or the meaning of Hispanic themed holidays.
LatiNation, American Latino TV's companion show, is celebrating its fifth season of broadcast syndication and will continue to be hosted by Adesina "Desi" Sanchez and Jose Mangin, the talented duo who have been fixtures on the show since the very first season. LatiNation is also featuring new segments, most notably "Making the Grade," which provides an encouraging and inspiring look at students and organizations that stress the importance of education.
"Our production teams have done a great job bringing new energy and new ideas to our syndicated product, making this year's offering the best season yet," said Howard Bolter, president and COO, LATV. "American Latino Television is a trailblazer in the Hispanic market. Its distribution success story underscores the need to provide quality programming to the new generation of U.S. Hispanics."
American Latino TV and LatiNation, award-winning, English-language Latino themed TV programs are part of LatiNation, LLC, and a subsidiary of LATV Networks. For more information, please go to http://www.AmericanLatino.tv.
