AMERICAN LATINO TV AND LATINATION ADD NEW EXECUTIVES AS SYNDICATED SHOWS COME OFF RECORD-BREAKING DISTRIBUTION AND AD SALES YEAR

“American Latino TV (ALTV) and LatiNation, the award-winning, nationally syndicated TV programs, announced the addition of two new executives along with additional in-house promotions as American Latino TV continues its nationwide affiliate and ad sales expansion following its acquisition by LATV Networks earlier this year.  The syndication division, spurred on by record distribution and double-digit ad sales revenue growth for the 2007-08 season, has tapped VP, Business Development and Co-Executive Producer David Morales and Executive-in-Charge of Production Fonda Anita among others.

“Momentum is firmly on our side as we head into an exciting new era of producing culturally relevant content for the underserved U.S.-born Latino market,” said Robert G. Rose, creator and executive producer of American Latino TV and LatiNation. “This influx of talented individuals will help us to build an even stronger stable of programming and expand our business further throughout the U.S.”

David Morales joins as VP Business Development and Co-Executive Producer for the syndicated shows. Mr. Morales founded his own entertainment company Picante Pictures in 2000, financing film and television production in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. In 2003, he moved to Brazil where he helped develop an original comedy series for Brazilian broadcast television which resulted in the first-ever, U.S.-style sitcom to air in the country.  As part of this effort, Mr. Morales brought to Brazil several famed veterans of the Hollywood comedy world including Debbie Allen who is well-known for her work in A Different World and Fame. In the U.S., Mr. Morales later developed the original TV comedy series, Pitbull’s La Esquina which airs on Mun2.  He will oversee new business and programming initiatives for the syndicated division as well as for LATV Networks’ digital broadcast network. A former Goldman Sachs employee, Mr. Morales is a Harvard Law School graduate.

Also joining the company as Executive in Charge of Production is Fonda Anita who just concluded various production stints in both television (MTV, BET, Grammys, Golden Globes, etc.) and film (Coen Brothers, Miramax) on both the east and west coast. Ms. Anita will be overseeing the business and legal aspects of the division’s productions including any new projects the company launches. Dolly Romero, former SiTV and Nickelodeon producer, joins the shows as west coast producer and will oversee the shows’ production team in Los Angeles.

In addition to the new hires, the company promoted several staffers including former LatiNation Producer Jennifer Pons who is now Supervising Producer of both syndicated weeklies, including American Latino TV, and The American Latino Presents specials. In addition to continuing to oversee the day-to-day creative aspects of LatiNation, Pons will collaborate closely with Erica Soto, American Latino TV head writer/segment producer who was promoted to Show Producer.

“FIRM GO” FOR SEVENTH SEASON OF AMERICAN LATINO TV & LATINATION -Syndicated Shows Make Distribution Gains on Univision

American Latino TV (ALTV) and LatiNation,  the award-winning, nationally syndicated TV programs, announced today that both shows have garnered key affiliate renewals and will continue into their historic seventh and fifth seasons respectively, beginning the week of September 29, 2008.

“Our syndicated shows are coming off a record year of ad sales revenue in what is an otherwise bleak story for other media outlets, providing further evidence that advertisers and stations are recognizing that U.S.-born Latinos are not only the majority of the U.S. Latino market, they are not effectively reached via Spanish-language TV,” states Robert G. Rose, executive producer of the shows. “Our acquisition by LATV Networks earlier in this year has given us the infrastructure to finally do the things we knew we could do. Next season marks the dawning of a new day for what was once the sleepy business of U.S. Hispanic media and marketing.”

American Latino TV, the original “in-culture” English-language TV show targeted to U.S.-born  Latinos (over 60 percent of all U.S. Latinos), confirmed renewals as well as several new affiliates and upgraded timeslots in over 100 cities. The original weekly syndicated show will be seen in over 75 million homes, representing over 91 percent of Hispanic TV homes, making it second only to Spanish-language television giant Univision Network for distribution of Hispanic targeted TV programming.

American Latino TV’s companion show, LatiNation also secured key renewals clearing the way for its fifth season. It is distributed in over 85 cities reaching more than 62 million homes and representing over 55 percent of all TV homes as well as over 85 percent of Hispanic homes, with distribution that rivals Telemundo’s. The dynamic duo’s distribution received a boost with upgrades in major markets such as Houston, Dallas and Tampa in addition to a host of new markets. New markets for American Latino TV include Minneapolis, MN; Charlotte, NC; Little Rock, AR; and more while LatiNation secured Sacramento, CA; Tulsa, OK; and Casper/Cheyenne, WY among others.

American Latino and LatiNation’s renewals demonstrates that creative shows targeted at the U.S.- born Latino resonate with an audience that is hungry for this unique type of programming.  These renewals are further evidence that our great group of affiliates feel as strongly as we do that entertaining, inspiring  and even educating viewers can still be a part of today’s broadcast stations program lineup,” said Howard Bolter,  president and COO, LATV Networks.

American Latino TV and LatiNation, award-winning, English-language Latino themed TV programs are part of LatiNation, LLC, and a subsidiary of LATV Networks.  They are seen in over 100 cities nationwide as well as the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. LATV Strikes Major Affiliation Deal With Tribune Broadcasting Adding New York, Chicago and Dallas as Digital Multicast Affiliates

Tags: , , , ,

“Just days before its one-year anniversary as the nation’s first bilingual/bicultural entertainment and music network distributed via digital multicast, LATV announced today a distribution partnership with Tribune Broadcasting, bringing major stations in New York, Chicago and Dallas into its affiliate fold. The addition of the number-one, number-three and number-six designated market areas (DMA) places LATV in front of nine million additional television households. This brings the total number of households reached to 32 million in the United States and Puerto Rico. It also places the network in nine of the top 10 Hispanic television markets and six of the top DMAs.
“In less than one year, LATV’s affiliate roster has jumped from five stations to 33 across the nation. Now, the Tribune deal offers us distribution in three of the most sought-after television markets in the country,” said Howard Bolter, LATV president and COO. “Tribune had many emerging network options available to put on their digital multicast spectrum and chose LATV, validating our rapid and successful rise in the TV landscape. They are a first-class media company and we look forward to working with them as partners.”
The new Tribune Broadcasting affiliates are: New York (WPIX), Chicago (WGN) and Dallas (KDAF). New York is the number-one DMA, and the number-two Hispanic market. Chicago is the number-three DMA and the number-five Hispanic market. Dallas is the number-six DMA as well as the number-six Hispanic market. All three stations are CW affiliates. Adds Mr. Bolter, “These agreements are especially valuable because just as we have negotiated in many of our past deals, the affiliations are with the top stations in each of the markets.”
“LATV offers top bilingual/bicultural entertainment programming, and our affiliation with LATV affirms our commitment to providing the highest quality content for our audience,” said Tribune Broadcasting’s Vice President of Strategy and Administration, Gina Mazzaferri.
In addition to the Tribune Broadcasting stations, LATV most recently announced the affiliation of San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose (KTVU-TV, FOX), a Cox-owned station, and Jacksonville, FL (WJXT, independent), LATV’s fifth Post-Newsweek affiliate.
“The Tribune agreement takes us over the top as a network with a national footprint. It is real watershed moment for us as more and more media companies are realizing that we have the right product, at the right time, with the right technology,” said Starrett Berry, LATV VP, Affiliate Sales.
LATV currently has 33 affiliations across the country in 19 of the top 25 Hispanic television markets. LATV is also carried on basic cable through its affiliates and in Los Angeles on KJLA via cable, broadcast and DBS.

Instead, this alternative award takes an offbeat approach to doling out accolades by focusing on underground talents who have yet to explode in the mainstream.

“We want to recognize people who are not normally recognized - good people doing good things who, like us to some degree, are toiling away in obscurity,” says Robert Rose, executive producer for the American Latino TV Awards.”*

“LatiNation and American Latino TV (ALTV) announced today their award-winning and nationally syndicated television programs are moving to a new time slot on Chicago’s WPWR My 50. The shows will begin airing on Sunday nights at 11:00 PM beginning this Sunday, March 23.

Patrick J. Mullen, Vice President and General Manager of WPWR My 50 Chicago, said, “We’re happy to have LatiNation and American Latino airing on My 50 Chicago. These are two of the only shows on television geared specifically to English speaking Latinos. We feel the new time period on Sunday nights will enable a larger audience to enjoy the programs.”

“My 50 has been very supportive in recognizing the importance of the young Latino market in Chicago as a large, growing but under served audience,” said Robert Rose, executive producer of LatiNation and American Latino TV. “Our new time slot will allow for easier viewing for our targeted 18- to 34-year-old demographic.”

The producers and LatiNation co-host Desi Sanchez will be in Chicago from April 10-13th to shoot a full episode from Pilsen Neighborhood, a staple of Latino culture in the city. The move reflects the growing awareness and momentum the two national shows have enjoyed in Chicago as a result of their culturally relevant Latino English-language programming that is tailored to local music, sports and entertainment interests. Past segments from Chicago have included profiles on America’s Top Model winner and Chicago native Jaslene Gonzalez, soccer team, the Chicago Fire, Chicago’s Amistad Car Club, local talent agency Desanti Talents, the Latin Street Dancing Company, The Windy City Rollers roller derby team and more.

“LATV, the nation’s first bilingual music/entertainment network distributed via digital multicast, announced today that it had signed on its fifth Post-Newsweek Stations, Inc. affiliate, WJXT in Jacksonville, Florida. This is LATV’s 30th affiliation. The independent station in the 49th-ranked Designated Market Area (DMA) is one of the growing number of general market stations choosing LATV as its digital multicast network of choice. Known as the local station and market news leader, WJXT will begin broadcasting LATV on March 20th on digital channel 4.3 and on Comcast cable channel 229.

“What makes this affiliation truly unique is that WJXT’s broadcasting strength is as a general market station in a growing Hispanic market. This is a perfect example of LATV’s crossover appeal,” said Howard Bolter, LATV president and COO. “We are already in 16 of the top 25 Hispanic markets in the U.S. Our goal is to be in every TV market across the nation.”

LATV’s national rollout in April 2007 began with Post-Newsweek Stations’ affiliates in Houston, KPRC (NBC); Miami, WPLG (ABC); Orlando, WKMG (CBS); and San Antonio, KSAT (ABC). LATV is multicast on these stations’ digital spectrum as a standard-definition channel. The original four Post-Newsweek station affiliates are in the top 20 Hispanic ADIs. Later in 2007, Post-Newsweek became a minority investor in the Company as well as holding a seat on the board.

“LATV offers us the ideal programming fare to reach today’s young, bilingual audience in Jacksonville,” said John Rafferty, VP, general manager, WJXT. “With its cool, hip content, web-based components and on-the-ground national support, we feel LATV will best serve Jacksonville’s emerging Hispanic market as well as the hard-to-reach 18- to 34- year-old demographic.”

On the heels of adding 800,000 subscribers in San Francisco via KTVU-TV, LATV now has 30 affiliations across the country in 16 of the top 25 Hispanic television markets. LATV is also carried on basic cable through its affiliates and in Los Angeles on KJLA via cable, broadcast and DBS.

American Latino TV, “celebrating American Latino Pride,” debuts a special new episode this weekend, which celebrates the many diverse blends that make American Latino culture so unique. The show explores controversial topics such as “Are Brazilians Latino?” and “Do people prefer the term, Hispanic or Latino?” Viewers are treated to the tunes of Latin Hip-Hop from the land of Shakespeare with the UK’s own, Cultura Londres.
