Margaret Montoya, a longtime member of the University of New Mexico law school faculty, was the first Latina to be admitted to Harvard Law School.
New Mexico Supreme Court Justice Petra Jimenez Maes was one of the first two Hispanic women to graduate from the University of New Mexico’s law school. In 2003, she became the state’s first Latina chief justice.
