A spokesman for Telemundo tells me the company eliminated the news director position in New York and created a VP of Content position “to oversee the news department, creative services and all digital platforms.
Hugo Balta, news director for Telemundo’s WNJU-47 in New York, also got pink-slipped during the company’s latest round of cuts.
The Telemundo station in Los Angeles today went through another round of cuts. Inside sources tell me in addition to layoffs, KVEA 52 canceled its 6 to 7 am morning newscast, anchored by José Ronstadt and Azucena Gómez.
