Effective August 29th at 11:59pm,  KTXZ AM 1560 will change it’s format to reintroduce to the Austin market a new music format that will feature Tejano Music. The format change will once again provide a venue for the promotion of the live Tejano music scene in the state capital.

In the coming weeks, due to changes in FCC rules and regulations, KTXZ will commence simulcasting the format in stereo on 95.1 FM here in Austin. The new format will feature Tejano, Norteno “Tejano Style” and Grupero Music.

Encino Broadcasting, LLC was founded this year for the specific purpose of acquiring KOKE. KTXZ and KELG by members of the Garcia family that previously owned KELG, KKLB, KTXZ and KFON. Those stations were sold to Border Media Partners in August of 2004 for 19 million dollars.

Dynamic Radio Broadcasting Corporation, owner of stations KELG, KKLB, KTXZ and KFON from 1985 through 2004, was founded by Austin Spanish Language broadcasting pioneer Jose Jaime Garcia. Sr. in October of 1985. Garcia Sr. first started his career in radio broadcasting in Austin in September of 1952 at KTXN 1370 AM, he would subsequently become the founder and principal owner of Austin’s first full-time Spanish Language radio station KMXX 102.3 FM that was established in August of 1976.

Garcia died on September 6, 1986 after a career of 34 years in broadcasting.

KELG continues today as Austin’s longest running Heritage Spanish Language radio station in Austin, Texas.

MTV Tr3s and five-time LATIN GRAMMY
winners CALLE 13 are teaming to give fans a triple dose of exclusive and
first-ever experiences in anticipation of the duo’s new album, “Los de
Atras Vienen Conmigo” (’The Ones Left Behind Are Coming With Me’), set to
drop on October 7th.

Declared “the most musically adventurous group in Latin hip-hop, maybe
in hip-hop, period” by The Los Angeles Times, Calle 13 will perform at the
first MTV Tr3s Pre-VMA Party on September 4th in Hollywood — marking the
first-ever performance by a Latin act at a Video Music Awards event. Party
guests, who will include fans, music executives and celebrities, will be
treated to the live performance premiere of songs from “Los de Atras Vienen
Conmigo.” This event signals the channel’s commitment to both established
and emerging Latino talent. Fans across the country can catch all the
action when MTV Tr3s streams the party performances on September 5th on
MTV.com www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2008/video.jhtml. Portions of the
performances will also appear on MTV Tr3s and Los Angeles affiliate
KBEH-Channel 63 on the night of the MTV Video Music Awards on September 7th
at 9PM SHARP (ET/PT).

Following the MTV Video Music Awards pre-party performance, Calle 13
will be featured in the channel’s award winning “Artist Speaking Tr3s”
campaign starting September 15th. The campaign is a creative collaboration
between the channel and Calle 13 and will take advantage of the creativity
and unique sensibilities the duo always bring to their work, while also
showing off the irreverent side of their personalities. Calle 13’s “Artist
Speaking Tr3s” features vignettes that challenge perceptions and
stereotypes. Fans get to watch as the circumstances of four ordinary
Latinos are transformed, destroyed and/or changed, and will also have the
opportunity to see exclusive performances. The campaign will also include
exclusive specials such as “Qui and Ey,” where fans get to have their
questions answered directly by Calle 13, and “Tr3s or False,” an
interactive special.

Finally, MTV Tr3s will launch its TR3SPASS CONCERT SERIES with Calle 13
as the headlining artist and Kinky as the opening act. The TR3SPASS CONCERT
SERIES is the most important expression to date of the channel’s commitment
to deepen the connection its viewers have to their favorite artists.

first-ever live performance of “No Hay Igual” with Nelly Furtado in New
York’s Time Square when the channel launched in 2006. Calle 13 was also

Recognizing Calle 13’s commitment to social justice, MTV Tr3s also featured
vocalist Residente as a panelist during its “Beyond Borders” immigration

The Hispanic Leadership Fund today announced that it will hold a concert during the Republican National Convention featuring Latin recording artist and Reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee. The Fiesta Americana Concert, co-hosted with The Latino Coalition and the Hispanic Alliance for Prosperity Institute, will be held on September 1, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. at MYTH nightclub in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Approximately 3000 convention delegates and special guests are expected to attend, including members of Minnesota’s rapidly growing Hispanic community.

This event will showcase the Hispanic community and demonstrate a clear message of support for key issues such as tough, but fair immigration reform, free trade in the Americas and prosperity through ownership. This event will also allow for an opportunity to highlight sharp policy differences between Senators John McCain and Barack Obama regarding these issues, and will kick off Convention week in great style.

Headline artist Daddy Yankee, chosen by TIME magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World,” is a rising star in Reggaeton – a music genre he helped create. In 2008, he won Billboard Latin Music Awards for Album of the Year and Reggaeton Album of the Year.

Throughout his career, Daddy Yankee has been involved in philanthropic activities and shown support for key issues affecting the Hispanic population. At a recent event with Senator McCain in Arizona, Daddy Yankee said: “I am here endorsing Senator McCain because I believe in his ideals and his proposals to lead this nation. And like I said before, he has been a fighter for the Hispanic community, and I know that for me personally, I chose him as the best candidate because he has been a fighter for the immigration issue.”
