Sedano’s Supermarkets, the number one Hispanic retailer in the United States, announced today that it will acquire three Albertsons supermarket locations in Central Florida. This acquisition marks Sedano’s Supermarkets’ first expansion beyond its South Florida headquarters and brings the total number of stores to 33 in Florida.

The Orlando area store locations are: 1100 N. John Young Parkway, Kissimmee, FL 34741; 12981 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32837; and 5660 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32822.

“We’re very excited about expanding into Orlando,” said Javier Herrán, director of marketing for Sedano’s Supermarkets. “The expansion into Central Florida helps us meet customer demand, while allowing us to quickly establish a presence and significant footprint in the Orlando market, as we pursue opportunities for continued strategic and conservative growth,” he said.

Sedano’s, with the assistance of The Food Partners, a national investment-banking firm providing merger, acquisition and divestiture services to the supermarket industry, strategically identified the Albertsons locations to maximize its entry into this new market. The store locations offer Sedano’s Supermarkets a great opportunity to respond to the needs of Orlando’s burgeoning Hispanic community as well as the general Orlando population. The stores, which vary in size from 58,000 square feet to 65,000, will feature Sedano’s staple Latin products as well as mainstream everyday items.

“Our ability to offer specialized goods, low prices and cater to our Hispanic culture have been paramount to our success throughout the years,” said Herrán. “We have a true understanding of the Sedano’s customer and continuously seek to meet their needs with tailored product selections that reflect the surrounding neighborhood’s diverse make up and taste.”

Sedano’s will officially take control of the three locations in the first quarter 2010. The stores will boast Sedano’s Supermarkets’ popular prepared foods section, custom-cut meat department and the iconic café serving espresso and pastelitos.

About Sedano’s Supermarkets

Founded in Hialeah, Florida in 1962 by the Herrán and Guerra families, Sedano’s Supermarkets has grown to become the number one Hispanic retailer in the United States. Sedano’s Supermarkets caters to Florida’s booming Hispanic community with more than 2,600 employees and 30 locations in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach counties. As the largest, independently owned, Hispanic supermarket chain, Sedano’s Supermarkets is recognized for its excellent customer service, ethnic product offering and competitive prices.

Following the success of their first collection, Gregorio’s newest line of one-of-a-kind 100% premium silk men’s neckties and ladies’ scarves is available for the Holiday Season. With the intention of introducing Latino images into the mainstream, the collection transcends boundaries and appeals to anyone interested in cutting edge fashion.

“My goal is to dress today’s fashion conscious person for their day at the office or any special occasion” Gregorio Founder, William Lopez said. “My accessories allow him or her to feel the pride and exhibit the beauty of the Latino culture.”

The neckwear reflects the exquisite colors and images of the Latino culture often observed through art, architectural styles and pottery. The collection was inspired by iconic images such as Mexico’s Aztec Eagle Warriors, Lotería and the Virgin of Guadalupe. Each tie and scarf bares a label detailing the history of the symbol used in the design in both English and Spanish connecting whoever wears the piece to its meaning in Latino heritage.

“Neckwear gives you a canvas to tell and share your story,” Lopez said. “It is not about creating a statement that is equivalent to wearing a neon sign, it was about creating a presence in which the person could look in the mirror and just know.”

Featured in Latina Magazine’s 2008 Gift Guide, Gregorio’s premiere line of handmade ties was well-received by many. With the expansion into ladies’ scarves, the newest collection promises to be even more groundbreaking than its predecessor. Purchase Gregorio ties and scarves online at www.GregorioTies.com and specialty retail stores nationwide.

Marking its sixth anniversary as one of the leading organizations for Latina business owners, the National Latina Business Women Association (NLBWA) will host their national conference on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento.

Conference highlights will include educational workshops on how to leverage the right media mix to grow the business, financial solvency, and how to separate and position your business against the competition. An impressive list of speakers will provide motivational topics and tips for the Latina business owner to succeed.

"The Latina entrepreneur has officially left her mark on American business," said Cecilia Mota, National President of NLBWA. "As a group, we are organized, motivated and dedicated to not only succeed as individuals, but to also serve as mentors and examples of what can be accomplished through unity and purpose."

NLBWA has made great strides in the short period of time it has been in existence. Each conference offers increased visibility and value to attendees, both male and female, which offers a learning environment through valuable interaction and a platform to hear speakers who are highly regarded experts within the business community and government sectors.

The conference workshops will focus on providing the tools and methods that will better position the Latina business owner to prosper and manage through an uncertain economic climate. Each workshop will include a panel discussion where attendees will hear from business experts on the best practices used to succeed and grow their businesses.

Since its foundation, NLBWA has grown to seven chapters nationwide with a growing membership. NLBWA's mission is to promote, develop and support the rapid growth of Latina business owners and professionals. The national organization supports the development of chapters throughout the country and these chapters deliver programs and services enabling greater success for this critical, but underrepresented market. The purpose of NLBWA is to create more representation, visibility, and business development, networking and mentoring opportunities for Latinas in the world of business and at the executive levels throughout the country. Visit www.nlbwa.com for more information.
