TELEMUNDO BRINGS A SELECT GROUP OF DISNEY PIXAR ANIMATED BLOCKBUSTER FILMS TO U.S. SPANISH-LANGUAGE AUDIENCES

Multi-Picture Acquisition Marks the First Time Disney•Pixar Movies Become Available on a
Spanish Language Television Network in the U.S.

MIAMI – September 28, 2011 – Telemundo announced today that it has licensed the rights to broadcast multiple animated features from Disney•Pixar. The deal will bring ten beloved box office hits, including six Academy Award®-winners, to U.S. Spanish-language television audiences starting in October. The first Disney•Pixar film to debut as part of the licensing agreement is the Academy Award® winning animated feature “The Incredibles” on October 2. The other animated films included in the deal are “Toy Story,” “Toy Story 2,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Cars,” “Up,” “Finding Nemo,” “WALL•E,” “Ratatouille,” and “Monsters, Inc.”

“Hispanics make up one-quarter of the audiences that attend animated films,” said Joshua Mintz, senior executive vice president, Telemundo Entertainment. “We are proud to be able to bring the very best in animation to our audience. This new and exciting deal will allow our audiences to watch some of their favorite Disney•Pixar productions in the comfort of their homes, in addition to the high-quality original productions they have come to love and expect from Telemundo.”

According to the Motion Picture Association of America, 43 million Hispanic moviegoers purchased 351 million movie tickets in North America in 2010. That was up 16 percent from 37 million Hispanic moviegoers and 300 million tickets in 2009. Beyond that, Hispanics have the highest movie-going per capita rate, averaging seven trips to the movies a year as opposed to an average of four trips for other ethnic groups. Family films, in particular, provide entertainment that crosses the generation and language preferences of Hispanic families. This is mainly evident with attendance to animated movies, as Hispanics can comprise over one-quarter of these audiences.*
