JUVENTUD ECUATORIANA THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR RECOGNIZING AND SUPPORTING OUSTANDING ECUADORIAN STUDENTS WITH SCHOLARSHIPS

New York, NY – For the Third consecutive year Juventud Ecuatoriana, (JUVE) on its effort to promote education and life in community among the Ecuadorian population in NY, will be granting 5 scholarships to outstanding students in need of economic support to continue their higher education. This year, besides granting the scholarships, JUVE offered a series of seminars on Leadership, Communications and Project planning as a requirement to apply for the scholarships. JUVE, knowing that not all applicants would be benefited monetarily made an effort to offer its applicants a little more; the skills necessary for their future professional career.

In the past two years, 10 students have benefited from JUVE’s scholarship program (Watch the video Meet the Scholars). Stephanie Parada, one of the past scholarship recipients mentioned that the scholarship she received “filled the gap that determined her future after graduating from high school.” She emphasized how meeting JUVE’s members and knowing what they’re doing to help the Ecuadorian community made her proud of her Ecuadorian Heritage and made her identity as an Ecuadorian stronger. The effort that JUVE has made to support the Ecuadorian community in the Tri-State area, including the scholarship applicants, has paid off. Edwin Quito, one of the scholarship awardees from the 2009 Gala has become involved in the organization ever since. Edwin emphasizes how “this is a great organization to develop your skills, to do something for your community and to make ourselves feel proud of who we are.”  He continues to invite Ecuadorians to get involved and do something to benefit the Ecuadorian Community.

This year’s Gala will take place on Tuesday, October 18th at The Learning Center; 4W 43th Street (bet 5th & 6th ave). The presence of community leaders, supporters, entrepreneurs, community advocates and authorities will make this Gala not only an event to recognize hard work and dedication but will serve as a space for networking, for the exchange of ideals, initiatives and experience. JUVENTUD ECUATORIANA  APOYA CON BECAS POR TERCER AÑO CONSECUTIVO A ESTUDIANTES UNIVERSITARIOS

Nueva York, NY – Por tercer año consecutivo, Juventud Ecuatoriana (JUVE), en su esfuerzo por promover la educación y la vida en comunidad en la población ecuatoriana en Nueva York, otorgará 5 becas a estudiantes sobresalientes con necesidad de apoyo económico para continuar con su educación superior. Este año, además de la concesión de las becas, JUVE ofreció una serie de seminarios sobre liderazgo, comunicación y planificación de proyectos, como requisito para aplicar a las becas. JUVE, sabiendo que no todos los solicitantes se beneficiarían monetariamente, ha hecho un esfuerzo para ofrecer a todos los candidatos las habilidades necesarias para su futura carrera profesional.

En los últimos dos años, 10 estudiantes se han beneficiado del programa de becas del Fondo Ecuatoriano Educativo (Mirar el Video de los Ganadores). Stephanie Parada, una de las beneficiadas de las becas pasadas mencionó que la beca que recibió “llenó el vacío que determina su futuro después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria.” Enfatizó cómo conocer a los miembros de la organizacion y saber lo que están haciendo para ayudar a la comunidad ecuatoriana la hizo orgullosa de su herencia ecuatoriana, fortaleciendo su identidad como ecuatoriana. El esfuerzo que JUVE ha hecho para apoyar a la comunidad ecuatoriana en el área tri-estatal, incluidos a los solicitantes de becas, ha dado sus frutos. Edwin Quito, uno de los ganadores de becas otorgadas en la Gala del 2009 se ha involucrado en la organización desde entonces. Edwin hace hincapié en cómo “esta es una gran organización para desarrollar sus habilidades, hacer algo por su comunidad y para sentirnos orgullosos de lo que somos.” Él sigue invitando a los ecuatorianos a participar y hacer algo en beneficio de la comunidad ecuatoriana.

La Gala en la que se otorgará las becas de este año se llevará a cabo el martes, 18 de octubre en el Learning Center; 4W 43th Street (entre la 5 y 6 avenida). Contaremos con la presencia de líderes comunitarios, simpatizantes, empresarios, activistas comunitarios y las autoridades que hacen de esta Gala no sólo un evento para reconocer el trabajo duro y dedicación, pero servirá como un espacio para la creación de redes y el intercambio de ideas, iniciativas y experiencias.
La Gala está abierta al público en general y todo el apoyo es bienvenido.
