“I am honored to be recognized by NBC4 New York. For the past five years, TeatroStageFest has been filling a void in the artistic, cultural and educational landscape of New York City. Our festival and year-round programs serve a dual purpose: to make it possible for the Latino community to see its many stories represented on theater stages city-wide, and to invite non-Latino theater-goers to go beyond what is familiar. It gives me great pride to see audiences and artists of all backgrounds continue to come together at TeatroStageFest!” said Susana Tubert。
As Executive Director of the Latino International Theater Festival of New York, Susana Tubert curates and brings to life TeatroStageFest’s year-round programming: shows, workshops, artist panels and other educational events, which culminate with the artistic and cultural celebration of theater, dance, music and puppetry productions by Latino artists city-wide, alongside groundbreaking international theater companies from Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain. Under Susana Tubert’s leadership, TeatroStageFest has brought together in the past 5 years: 513 local and 157 international artists, featured 167 performances of 86 unique shows and events, and presented 19 events by 29 artists in São Paulo, Brazil. Susana has also involved 2,200 high school students and 65 teachers in 124 bilingual playwriting workshops in the 5 boroughs, which resulted in 177 student play submissions to the celebrated Young Playwrights Latino Challenge competitions at TeatroStageFest.
