National Alliance for Hispanic Health named a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists

The League of American Bicyclists announced today that the National Alliance for Hispanic Health (The Alliance) has been named a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) in recognition of the organization’s efforts to support their employees’ health. The Alliance applied for the designation to encourage its staff to live a healthier life style, and have worked hard to increase bicycle friendliness in the workplace. The Alliance now joins the ranks of the other 252 Bicycle Friendly Businesses recognized by the League of American Bicyclists.

“We are happy to recognize The Alliance for their investment in bicycling as a vehicle for improved employee health, social responsibility, and economic growth,” said League president, Andy Clarke. “Some of the most successful companies in the world are showing that investing in bicycling is not only good for health and sustainability but also the bottom line.”

Businesses that strive to become bicycle friendly improve the workplace and their community. “As the nation’s leading Hispanic health advocacy group, being a bike friendly organization is part of our efforts to support all communities in making movement a daily part of our lives”, said Dr. Jane Delgado, President and CEO of the Alliance. The Alliance also encourages bicycling as a convenient and environmentally friendly option for transportation by providing amenities such as showers and secured bike parking, and incentives such as the commuter tax benefit.

“We are proud of the roadmap that the Bicycle Friendly Business program provides and how The Alliance used it to become a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business,” said Bill Nesper, Director of the League’s Bicycle Friendly America program. The League guides companies through many simple, effective and creative ways to get businesses and their employees biking and encouraging bicycling in the workplace.
