Univision Radio Boasts Most Popular Radio Stations in Major Markets this Summer

Additionally, Univision Radio stations have outperformed their English-language counterparts across some of the largest markets in the country. Los Angeles’ KLVE, Houston’s KLTN, Miami’s WRTO and WAMR, Chicago’s WOJO, Dallas’ KLNO, San Antonio’s KBBT and KROM, Phoenix’s KHOT and San Francisco’s KBRG and KSOL, rank among the Top 5 radio stations, regardless of language, in key demographics.
According to figures from Arbitron’s most recent PPM measurement period, Univision Radio’s shows and popular on-air personalities rank ahead of English-language stations across key target demographics. In Los Angeles, KLVE’s “Omar y Argelia” ranks as the No. 1 morning program¹, regardless of language, amid all other FM morning shows, beating KIIS FM’s “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest.” Also Houston KLTN’s “El Show de Raúl Brindis y Pepito” ranks as the No. 1 morning show in Houston, regardless of language.²
“Across the country, Univision Radio’s continued ratings growth speaks to the power of our programming and the quality of our on-air personalities,” said Jose Valle, president of Univision Radio. “The overwhelming preference of our products confirms that Univision Radio is the content of choice for Hispanic Americans regardless of language or platform.”
In Los Angeles, Univision Radio had the No. 1 (KLVE) and No. 2 (KRCD) Spanish-language stations among Adults 12+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, according to the latest Arbitron PPM survey. KLVE leapt into second place, among Adults 18-49, regardless of language, from the seventh spot.
Mornings on KLVE were up 51 percent with Adults 25-54, 36 percent with Adults 18-34 and 42 percent with Adults 18-49. The station’s “Omar y Argelia” show also moved into first place from fourth place, regardless of language, amid all other FM morning shows in Los Angeles.
In New York, WXNY, now the largest Spanish-language formatted station in the entire country with Adults 18-49, also ranks as the No. 1 Hispanic station among Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54. It is also the No. 1 Spanish-language station in the same key demographics and time periods during morning drive-time with “The Luis Jimenez Show” and during afternoon drive-time with “El Padrino.”
In the Miami market, Univision Radio highlights include:
•WAMR ranks as the No. 1 station in morning drive-time in three key demographics, Hispanic Adults 18-34, Hispanic Adults 18-49 and Hispanic Adults 25-54
•WAMR ranks as the No. 1 and WRTO ranks as the No. 2 in morning drive-time among Hispanic Adults 18-34 and Hispanic Adults 18-49
•WRTO was No. 1 Total Week in three key demographics, Hispanic Adults 18-34, Hispanic Adults 18-49 and Hispanic Adults 25-54
•WRTO was No. 1 and WAMR was No. 2 among Spanish-language radio stations Total Week among Hispanic Adults 25-54
In Houston, Univision Radio has seen success across its suite of stations. KLTN ranks as the No. 1 Spanish-language radio station across all key Hispanic listener demographics. KOVE is No. 2 Spanish-language radio station and ranks as a Top 10 station in the market, regardless of language. Additionally, KLTN’s morning and personality-driven shows continue to delight Houston listeners:
•KLTN’s “El Show de Raúl Brindis y Pepito” ranks as the No. 1 morning show in Houston across all demographics, regardless of language
•KLTN’s “Piolín por la Mañana” ranks as the No. 1 show across Hispanic Adults 18-34, Hispanic Adults 18-49 and Hispanic Adults 25-54
In the San Antonio market, three Univision Radio stations, KBBT, KROM and KXTN, rank amongst the Top 10 regardless of language with Adults 12+. Plus KBBT, KROM and KGSX make the Top 10 with Total Adults 18-34. On the station level, highlights include:
•KBBT holds the No. 1 spot among Adults 12-17, Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, regardless of language, a position the station has held for the past four consecutive Arbitron measurement periods
•KROM places in the Top 3 among Adults 18-34 and Adults 25-54, also regardless of language
•KROM’s “El Show de Raúl Brindis y Pepito” continues to lead among key demographics, winning the morning drive-time among Adults 18-34 and ranking No. 2 in the time slot among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, regardless of language
In the San Francisco market, Univision Radio’s KBRG and KSOL both rank among the Top 5 radio stations, regardless of language, among Adults 18-49. Since January 2011, KBRG has consistently ranked among the Top 5 total market radio stations with the coveted demographic of Adults 18-49.

On the interactive front, Univision Radio also delivered growth throughout August with its radio stream reaching 3.3 million total listening hours.

The Univision Radio App, available in both English and Spanish to iPhone and iPod touch users, brings some of Hispanic America’s favorite radio personalities and programming from stations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Since its launch on August 1, the App has had over 180,000 downloads. It generated a record 12,000 downloads in just the first three days after its launch.
