Nation’s Leading Hispanic Real Estate Professionals To Meet In LA On State of Latino Homeownership, Foreclosure Market, Barriers to Entry – NAHREP
Housing Leaders, Corporate Executives, 2500 Real Estate Practitioners Gather in the West’s Latino Stronghold For Nation’s Largest Forum On The Hispanic Real Estate Market
08.24.2011– What is the fate of the Hispanic real estate market given the economic blow to the community during the foreclosure crisis? Housing leaders, nonprofit executives, 2500 Latino real estate practitioners and service providers will convene in Los Angeles next month at the JW Marriott at LA Live on September 17-20 to discuss the state of Hispanic homeownership at the 2011 NAHREP Real Estate & Marketing Conference.
The three-day meeting will focus on Hispanic homeownership, economic forecast, barriers to entry and business tips for practitioners that do business with the growing Hispanic market. For more information about the event or to register, go to: nahrep.org/convention/
The meeting is the industry’s premier forum on Hispanic homeownership and is hosted by the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. The timing of the meeting comes on the heels of a report issued by the association that suggests that Hispanic buying power has the potential to be a driving force in the nation’s housing recovery despite economic setbacks suffered during the housing crisis.
“The high desire, population force, work ethic and resiliency of Latino families make this a buyer segment that must not be overlooked. The housing market needs to attract new buyers into the market and Latino buying clout can drive sales of condos and starter homes,” said Carmen Mercado, NAHREP president. “Avoiding over regulation of the mortgage process, however, is essential to maintaining access to affordable financing for these buyers.”
Highlights for the meetings include:
• Personal appearance by LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (Monday, September 19 9:30 am)
• Latino Homebuyer Town Hall (Monday, September 19 1-2:30 pm) C-suite entrepreneurs from across the industry discuss issues such as lending, access, supply, affordability and marketing to Latinos. Learn what their companies are doing to prepare for the upcoming wave of Hispanic homebuyers.
• Emerging Housing Policy Impacting Latino Homebuyers and Real Estate Practitioners (Monday, September 19 2:45-4:15) Former NAHREP Chairman Tino Diaz will discuss the overhaul of the housing industry and the consequences Dodd-Frank, QRM, QM, the Safe Act and Fair Lending policies will have on residential real estate
• Economic Outlook and the Latino Market (Tuesday, September 20, 2011) Unemployment, consumer confidence, more foreclosures and falling housing values continue to drive today’s market. Hear experts discuss the future macroeconomic outlook, Latino demographic trends and their effect on housing and the overall economy. Speakers include: Realty Trac’s Rick Sharga and Arthur Rockwell of Geoscape.
• REO Disposition Management: The Road to Community Stabilization (Tuesday, September 20, 2011 10:45-11:15 pm) REOs can be the gateway to community stabilization when sold to owner-occupant buyers. This session brings together default market executives, nonprofit partners and Latino leaders in conversation about current programs and other steps that should be taken to help neighborhoods recover.
The 2011 NAHREP Real Estate & Marketing Convention is the real estate industry’s premier event for real estate professionals who work closely with the Latino community or want to learn to work with Hispanic homebuyers. Cost to attend is $399 for members and $499 for non-members. Membership is NOT required nor is the event limited to real estate professionals of Hispanic descent.
