Webinar to Focus on What Healthcare Reform Means for Hispanic-Owned Small Businesses – Free online session Aug. 2 open to all small businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn about various provisions of the new healthcare law

Washington, D.C.—The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Center for American Progress and Small Business Majority will host a one-hour webinar on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 11am EDT on healthcare reform’s impact on Hispanic-owned small businesses. This event is part of a nationwide outreach effort to educate small business owners about the Affordable Care Act.
The free webinar, which is open to all small business owners, will feature a panel of a small business advocates and healthcare experts who will present an overview of the Affordable Care Act and its effect on small firms. Issues include small business tax credits, state health insurance exchanges, cost containment provisions and other components of the law. It will also give small business owners a chance to ask questions in a Q&A session following the presentation.
“It’s important that all small business owners hear about how many of the new healthcare law’s provisions can help them afford health insurance and provide benefits to their employees,” said John Arensmeyer, founder and CEO of Small Business Majority. “As states and the federal government work to implement the Affordable Care Act, we’re spreading the word so small business owners can take advantage of the many benefits the law provides.
“One in every four exchange enrollees will be Hispanic,” said Isabel Perera, Special Assistant for Health Policy of the Center for American Progress, “so healthcare reform has significant opportunities for Hispanic businesses. It’s important to highlight these and other opportunities for eligible employers.”
“Our entrepreneurs are driving the economic recovery of this country; however administrative costs still present barriers to true prosperity…especially in this climate,” said Javier Palomarez, president and CEO of the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “Thus, it is critical that our business owners understand what’s in the Affordable Care Act and begin to take advantage of the provisions in place for small business.”
The webinar will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 from 11am– 12pm EDT. Presentations will be given by Javier Palomarez, president of the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Rhett Buttle, national outreach and government affairs director for Small Business Majority and Isabel Perera, special assistant for health policy at the Center for American Progress.
