I have no idea of the exact motivation behind this tactic but I do wish that all of congress would get arrested at this point with the mess around the debt ceiling.
That said I think it is obvious that in today’s political environment and with our nation’s extremely short attention span that they feel that getting any press is good. I doubt it will have any effect on the process but I am sure that they are frustrated with the inaction surrounding immigration reform and that this seemed to be a good idea.
