NALEO Reacts to California Governor’s Supreme Court Nomination

The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) issued the following statement in reaction to Governor Jerry Brown’s nomination to the California Supreme Court:

“The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) believes that Governor Brown’s decision to leave the California Supreme Court without a Latino perspective is inexcusable. Nearly two out of five residents in the state are Latino. More than half of all Californians under the age of 18 are Latino. It is a grave oversight for the Supreme Court not to reflect the full diversity of our state. The California Supreme Court interprets the law on issues that are critical to all California families. Justice is best served when the perspectives of all Californians are represented.”

About NALEO
