Veteran Journalist Adriana Vargas to Co-Anchor WXTV Univision 41′s Highly-Rated Newscast “Noticias 41″ – New York

Beginning Monday, August 15, 2011, Vargas will present the highly-rated newscast alongside Emmy® award-winning news anchor Rafael Pineda.

Vargas most recently served as the official spokesperson and director of international media for the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos. Before that, Vargas was editorial content advisor and news anchor for RCN Television’s NTN24 (international news edition) and RCN Radio. In 2005, she worked as an international editor and news anchor for Caracol Radio where she reported on international news events. She was also news anchor and reporter for “Séptimo Día” (Seventh Day), an investigative show on Caracol Television. Vargas began her career in broadcast journalism in 1996 as a reporter for RTV Ritore Television in Colombia.
A native of Colombia, with more than 14 years of experience in journalism, Vargas has reported on major news events and stories including Latin America’s political crisis, several U.S. elections and the Hurricane Katrina aftermath. Vargas is a graduate of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota where she earned a degree in communications and journalism.

NUEVA YORK, NY – 18 DE JUlIO, 2011 – WXTV Univision 41, la estación de televisión líder en español en el área de Nueva York, anunció hoy que la periodista veterana Adriana Vargas se une al prestigioso noticiero de alta audiencia como co-presentadora de “Noticias Univision 41 a las 6 y a las 11”. A partir del lunes, 15 de agosto, 2011, Vargas presentará el noticiero estelar junto a Rafael Pineda, periodista galardonado con el premio Emmy®.

Antes de incorporarse a Noticias 41, Vargas fue vocera oficial y directora de medios internacionales del Presidente de Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos. Antes de trabajar para Santos, Vargas fue asesora de redacción, reportera y presentadora de noticias NTN24 (edición de noticias internacionales) de RCN Televisión y RCN Radio. En el 2005, Vargas también trabajó como editora internacional, reportera y presentadora de noticias de Caracol Radio, donde reportó sobre acontecimientos noticiosos internacionales. También trabajó para Caracol Televisión como presentadora de noticias, reportera y editora internacional del programa de denuncia Séptimo Día. Vargas inició su carrera en televisión en 1996 como reportera de RTV Ritore Televisión en Colombia.
