Rick Alessandri Joins Univision Communications as Senior Vice President of Business Development

Univision Communications Inc., the premier media company serving Hispanic America, today announced that Rick Alessandri has joined the Company as senior vice president of Business Development. Alessandri will lead the charge on creating and expanding a variety of new revenue streams for the Company. He will be based in New York and report to Randy Falco, EVP and COO.

“Rick Alessandri’s bottom line orientation will be an important asset to Univision as we look to expand the Company while creating a variety of new revenue streams both on- and off-air,” Falco said. “Rick is recognized for his successful track record of nurturing existing brands while turning them into new franchises.”

Previously Alessandri spent more than 10 years in various roles at ESPN, Inc., culminating with his roles as senior vice president and managing director for the X Games franchise and senior vice president for ESPN Enterprises and consumer products. With the X Games, he was responsible for managing the global business operations for the franchise, including two U.S.-based X Games events. In addition, with ESPN Enterprises and consumer products, Alessandri was responsible for overseeing all business lines for ESPN’s brand extensions including video games, home entertainment, consumer products, licensing, ESPN Zones, ESPN Total Access VISA card and others. He got his start at ESPN as vice president and assistant to the president from 2000 to 2003. Prior to ESPN, Alessandri served as vice president and general manager at SportsTicker, where he directed the day-to-day operation and management of the online real-time sports news reporting service, including the oversight of the news room, sales and marketing, and the overall strategic direction for the organization.
