Tagged: 14th Amendment, citizenship, Republican, Somos Republicans, Steve KingHispanic Republicans believe the Constitution of the United States is under attack. The new Congress was supposed to start the New Year with introducing fiscally conservative measures, however, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) is already implementing legislation that will cost tax payers millions of dollars to defend even though we are already experiencing fiscal distress. According to POLITICO, King wants to amend the Constitution, however, the US statutes on immigration and citizenship were codified by Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), where the details have already been debated and passed by the Senate. Children are guaranteed citizenship by the 14th Amendment to the Constitution (see the Supreme Court’s ruling in U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark.), and it is unlikely that this part of the INA could be successfully changed because of the Wong Kim Ark Supreme Court precedent.
King has both an oath and a duty to protect the Constitution of the United States but is instead “shredding it” by attacking American freedoms and the Rights of American-born babies. We believe King is a hypocrite for seeking the “Right to Life” endorsement because he continues to use the dehumanizing term – “anchor baby”. The Republican Party is supposed to pride itself with a strong “right to life” position, yet, King continues to refer to babies as lifeless objects as he seeks to strip them from their rights.
Pro life organizations believe in fighting for the rights of unborn babies. However, King seeks to implement an amendment that will strip more rights from babies, therefore, we will ask the Republican National Coalition for Life to withhold future endorsements of him since they endorsed him in 2010. SOMOS REPUBLICANS will continue our Stop the Defamation of “anchor babies” national campaign which will implore all pro life organizations to not endorse any candidate that seeks to attack all babies.
Steve King is positioning our Party for disaster, and his unholy alliance with an evil organization will implode and send our nation toward the wrong direction. It’s time for Republican lawmakers to stop attacking babies and their Rights – and focus on the economy first. It’s time for all pro life organizations to denounce the dehumanizing term of “anchor baby”, but the time for them to act is right now before more rights are taken from precious babies.
Finally, we believe King should resign from the Republican Party since he has tarnished the image of it that could cost us 50 years to restore; and we believe King does not represent the values that began with our first founder – Abraham Lincoln.
