The display brings to life the sheet castles world, a popular Hispanic traditional activity that allows children’s imaginations to take them to fairy tale worlds.
Through generations, sheet castles have been a part of what Hispanic children have grown up with. Under these fabric castles, kids put their imagination at play spending hours of fun while empowering their ability to imagine extraordinary possibilities.
Downy will be featuring walls made out of sheets with its new scent, Ultra Downy® Sun Blossom. Museum goers will encounter a touch-activated freshness experience showcased in the sheet castle display while being exposed to exciting and hands-on learning activities.
In collaboration with the Children’s Museum in Houston, the display takes place by the unique Yalalag exhibit created exclusively by the museum. The exhibit takes families to a traditional Mexican village and its way of life with a replica of the Yalalag town in Oaxaca, Mexico. A special area was created to build the Sheet Castle display brought by Downy, where children can build their own sheet castles and listen to the most magical native fairy tales, highlighting the cultural learning experience through this interactive display.
“Downy has been a great partner in creating such a unique experience for families. This sheet castle display inspires children and their families to discover more about their culture, to visit imaginary worlds and to know that a playground can be any place where the imagination can take over,” said Dora Lipper, Children’s Museum of Houston educator in charge of the Yalalag exhibit.
“For generations, sheet castles have transported families to faraway lands in the living rooms of our homes. These make-believe castles have provided a soft, comforting retreat thanks to creativity and the never-ending imagination of children,” said Mary Pochobradsky, Marketing Director, Downy. “The Sheet Castle display in Houston celebrates the magic that fabric has brought to generations, while at the same time evoking a comforting dreamland with the fresh scent of Downy.”
The sheet castle display presented by Downy will be open on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 and it will close on Sunday, November 21, 2010.
