Central Market:
WHAT: Central Market presents Passport to Argentina, a multi-faceted celebration of Argentina’s food, wine and culture.
Not everyone can travel to Argentina to celebrate the country’s Bicentennial, so Central Market is bringing all-things-Argentine to its eight stores across Texas for an unprecedented two-week celebration. Here’s a sampling of some of the vast array of Argentine-sourced activities taking place during this unique event:
* Experience the country’s finest cuisine at cooking classes taught by world-renowned Argentine chefs Francis Mallmann and Narda Lepes;
* Shop a mini-version of the San Telmo crafts and art market for gifts, trinkets and apparel;
* Sip and sample robust Malbecs and other varietals with world-famous Argentine vintners Susana Balbo, Laura Catena and Sebastian Zuccardi, among others;
* Bring your dancing shoes and learn the Tango, taught by Argentine instructors;
* Grilling “a la parrilla” outside on the patios and walkways, featuring choripan and South American beef;
* Taste as Central Market chefs prepare authentic Argentine house-made alfajores, cremona and empanadas. Learn about making them at home in workshops, too.WHEN: May 12 – 25, 2010
