NCLR (National Council of La Raza), the largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, will host a news briefing on Friday, January 29 to preview the upcoming 2010 NCLR Annual Conference, which will take place July 10–13 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX. The briefing, which will also be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at 10:00 a.m. CST, is designed to familiarize San Antonio–area media with the events and highlights of the 2010 NCLR Annual Conference, themed “A Legacy of Service, Advancing Community.”
NCLR President and CEO Janet Murguía will announce Toyota as the Title Sponsor of the 2010 NCLR Annual Conference. The Conference, which will feature the revamped National Latino Family Expo, more than 50 workshops, and nationally renowned speakers, will contribute an estimated $7–8 million to the local economy. Last year’s Conference in Chicago boasted nearly 4,500 registered attendees, drew 25,000 attendees to the National Latino Family Expo, and contributed millions of dollars to the city’s economy.
The NCLR Annual Conference is the largest national gathering of its kind in the Latino community, serving as the meeting ground for community leaders, activists, and elected and appointed officials; members of the corporate, philanthropic, and academic communities; and youth.
