Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) and Judge Sonia Sotomayor will be two of the recipients of the 2009 Rising Star Awards granted by the the New York State department of Labor and Latino Job Service Employer Committee (JSEC). LISTA will be honored because of its extraordinary success in community activities such as bridging the digital divide for U.S. Latinos and for its continued development of America’s next generation workforce.
The Latino job Service Employer Committee (JSEC) and the New York State department of Labor will present this prestigious award to Jose Marquez, President and CEO of the Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association, at the Twelfth Annual Rising Star Awards Reception on Friday October 16, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., at Tavern On The Green, Central Park West 67th St. New York, NY 10023.
The purpose of the Annual Rising Star Awards Reception is to recognize and honor Hispanic business and non-profit organizations that excel for their achievements. A Lifetime Achievement Award will also be given to Judge Sotomayor, a Hispanic who has demonstrated excellence in her field and her community, and a Community Leader Award to LISTA for its extraordinary civic activities.
LISTA’s national Board of Directors is made up of Latino executives representing a broad cross section of industries and technological functions throughout the U.S. and within their 12 nationwide tech councils and over 65,000 subscribers. The organization has formed a network of the most influential and innovative Latino leaders and it is undoubtedly shaping the future of the Latino community.”
