Tango with Piranha! The National Aquarium in Washington Celebrates Latino Heritage Day on September 20

“Bienvenido! The National Aquarium in Washington, D.C. celebrates its first annual Latino Heritage Day on Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In conjunction with Latino Heritage Month, The Aquarium’s special day will highlight the culture, traditions, art and history of Latin American countries.

Aquatic treasures from South American waters will serve as a backdrop to this special day at the Aquarium. Children will enjoy Spanish story time and Latino craft making throughout the day. There will also be a special Argentine Tango by Buenos Aires native and tango master Carina Rosario. The day will conclude with a special piranha feeding with Spanish translation.

September 20th Latino Heritage Day Details:

All DAY — Crafts and Scavenger Hunt handout

1:20 pm — Argentine Tango by Carina Rosario Losano, Official Instructor at the Embassy of Argentina and Representative of the Academia Nacional del Tango of Argentina

2:00 pm — Piranha feeding & education with Spanish translation
