Hispanic Business Magazine Releases the Diversity Elite 60, a Directory of the Nation’s Top Organizations That Model Diversity

“Hispanic Business Magazine is proud to announce the release of the 2009 Diversity Elite 60, an annual listing of top companies in the United States that model diversity in the workplace. Ranking of this list is determined by more than 32 variables that measure a company’s commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity.

Top organizations on this year’s list went well beyond workforce diversity initiatives and implemented strategies to reach more Hispanic consumers and increase their businesses with minority-based and Hispanic-owned suppliers.

Southern California Edison heads this year’s Hispanic Business Diversity Elite. This year marks the return to the number one spot for this energy giant that provides power to 11 million California customers. “We are in probably the most diverse community in the country and we benefit from that. It is really important to our employees that we embrace diversity,” states Veronica Gutierrez, vice-president Corporate Communications.

The top 10 companies this year include Southern California Edison; Wells Fargo & Company; Bank of America; Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.; Comerica Inc.; Hyatt Hotels Corporation; JPMorgan Chase; AT&T Inc.; Marriott International Inc. and PG&E Corporation.

The September Diversity issue also includes the 2009 Best Schools for Hispanics with top 10 lists in four categories: law, business, engineering and medicine.
