“The Kansas City Royals are hosting the third annual Viva Los Royals celebration presented by Sprint on Saturday, September 5 prior to the Royals-Los Angeles Angels 6:10 p.m. game. The special pre-game celebration begins at 4 p.m. in the Outfield Experience and features performers that transcend generations and resonate with the entire Hispanic community.

Headlining the pre-game concert is the musical group WAR, a funk band that formed in 1969 and grew in popularity with hits such as “Low Rider,” “The Cisco Kid,” and “Why Can’t We be Friends?” Kansas City hometown favorite Las Estrellas will also perform, while Mexican-American country singer Rick Trevino will perform the National Anthem. Multi-faceted Mexican entertainer Angelica Vale will emcee the event and have the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. The evening will also feature an autograph session with all the evening’s performers. For updated details on the Viva Los Royals celebration, fans can visit royals.com/viva.

During the festivities, fans will enjoy samples of authentic Hispanic food and beverages as well as have the opportunity to visit other vendors from Kansas City’s Hispanic community. Fans can also purchase Viva Los Royals T-shirts for $10 with a portion of the proceeds benefitting The Guadalupe Center, Inc., which is celebrating its 90th anniversary as the longest continuously operating organization serving Latinos in the United States. In addition, the first 20,000 fans in attendance for the game will receive a Royals BBQ Apron.

Fans can purchase game tickets for September 5 and all the remaining regular season home games online at royals.com, by phone at 1-800-6ROYALS, at metro area Hy-Vee stores and at the Kauffman Stadium ticket windows. “
