“Yahoo! En Espanol today announced its most popular Searches on Yahoo! Pop for the month ending July 31 (espanol.pop.yahoo.com/pop/#2009-07). Yahoo! Pop allows users to access the site and stay in touch with what’s hot and use it as a resource to search for and spot trends. Information on Yahoo! Pop is available and searchable by day, month and category.

The beautiful actress Megan Fox topped Yahoo! En Espanol’s most popular list as articles anticipating her steamy scenes in the upcoming films “Jennifer’s Body” and “Jonah Hex” circulated the web. Singer Nelly Furtado was also among the most searched last month as the Canadian native presented her Spanish CD “Mi Plan” and signed up to co-headline a free concert in Mexico City alongside Juan Luis Guerra to promote tourism in that country. Yahoo! En Espanol users also searched for former RBD star Anahi after the singer/actress debuted as a solo artist during last month’s Premios Juventud. Searches for the drug Tamiflu also peaked in July after reports informed that it had successfully treated the A/H1V1 virus in several people across the world. Other Pop favorites last month included Mexican singer Belinda, Cuban actress Niurka Marcos, Mexican actress Lorena Herrera and singer Taylor Swift.

In addition to the most popular overall topics, Yahoo! Pop also reveals the Top Ten Searches in six other categories: entertainment, music, technology, celebrities, news and sports. During the month of July, singers Belinda and Nelly Furtado were among the most searched for in the celebrity, entertainment and music categories. Searches for WWE Divas and the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the popular mixed martial arts tournament aimed at finding the world’s best fighter, dominated the sports category. Among the most searched in the news category were Premios Juventud and Tamiflu. Yahoo! users also searched for information on Paginas Amarillas and online translators (traductor), which were among the most popular topics in the technology category.
