“Pan American Bank (Los Angeles) today announced that its President and CEO Jesse Torres will serve as co-chair for the Southern California chapter of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS). ACAMS Southern California Chapter will formally launch at an inaugural professional networking event to be held on September 16, 2009, at the Torrance Marriott South Bay.

“It is an honor to serve as co-chair for the newly formed ACAMS Southern California Chapter. The founding membership is comprised of the region’s best anti-money laundering talent. Due to its proximity to the Mexican border, its focus as a trade hub and financial center, Southern California is a very active money laundering region. ACAMS Southern California will allow AML professionals to network socially and professionally and ultimately better defend Southern California financial institutions from money laundering and other financial crimes,” said Mr. Torres. “With the support of the national ACAMS organization, Southern California AML professionals will be better prepared to protect the financial infrastructure from the criminal element.”
