Su Casa Receives Grant From Verizon Wireless Communications Store

Su Casa and the new Verizon Wireless Communications Store in Baldwin Park, Calif., teamed up to collect more than 180 no-longer-used phones and accessories. The collection drive earned the non-profit a $2,000 HopeLine grant for domestic violence prevention services. Verizon Wireless presented Su Casa with the HopeLine grant at the Communications Store located at 14510 Baldwin Park Towne Center, Baldwin Park, Calif. 91706.

“With this grant support from Verizon Wireless we will be able to continue to provide programs and services for domestic violence prevention and education,” said Vicki Doolittle, Executive Director of Su Casa. “Like the HopeLine program, we strive to provide services and tools to empower individuals to live free from abuse.”

Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine program collects no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition from any wireless service provider. Phones donated to HopeLine that can be refurbished are sold for reuse, and those that are not salvageable are recycled in an environmentally sound way under a zero-landfill policy. Proceeds generated from the phones collected by HopeLine are put toward wireless phones and service for survivors of domestic violence as well as financial grants to non-profit domestic violence advocacy agencies.
