Eleven Fairfax County-based companies, including nine in technical fields, are among the 500 largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the nation based on revenue, according to Hispanic Business magazine.
The Fairfax County companies are among 18 from Virginia on the 2009 Hispanic Business 500 list, which was published in the magazine’s June issue based on 2008 data. Fairfax County, just outside Washington, D.C., has more firms on the list than 39 states including Maryland (eight), as well as the District of Columbia (five). The Fairfax County companies generated more than $510 million in revenue and employed 5,130 workers, according to the magazine.
“Fairfax County is proud to be the home of so many successful Hispanic-owned companies,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA, www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org). “The fact that Fairfax County has nearly as many Hispanic Business 500 firms as Maryland and the District of Columbia combined illustrates the strength and diversity of the county’s economy and business community.”

499. MAC Aerospace Corp., ChantillySix Fairfax County-based companies are on the 2009 Black Enterprise magazine list of the 100 largest African American-owned companies in the United States.
Time magazine called Fairfax County “one of the great economic success stories of our time.” Business growth helps Fairfax County fund public services such as a top-ranked public school system that improve the quality of life. Fairfax County offers a well-educated workforce, diverse real estate opportunities, access to global markets through Washington Dulles International Airport, and a business community based on technology and professional services.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA maintains marketing offices in San Francisco, Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
