First Choice Power Donates $50,000 to Texas LULAC; Sponsorship Benefits Hispanic Education, Leadership Programs

“First Choice Power donated $50,000 to the Texas League of United Latin American Citizens () to sponsor Hispanic education and leadership programs, events and conferences across the state.

First Choice Power and joined forces in 2007 to educate Texas consumers on energy efficiency and energy savings and to support Hispanic community development. The retail electric provider provides ongoing financial support for ’s community efforts.

“Thanks to the generous contribution from First Choice Power, this year we will use the funds they donated for education, leadership and economic development events, conferences and programs,” said Joey Cárdenas, director of Texas .

The sponsorship will help meet its program goals and enhance its leadership programs across Texas, he added.

Collaborating with is part of First Choice Power’s initiative to facilitate education and access to all Texans, said Andres Reyes, director of Hispanic marketing for First Choice Power.

“At First Choice Power, we firmly believe that education is the foundation for our Hispanic community’s advancement,” Reyes added. “That is why every year we support different initiatives and projects that support our youth in helping them complete their education and progress. As part of such effort we support , who has done a great job in assisting our youth in finishing their high-school and fostering the pursuit of a college degree.”

Classroom Energy Innovation Grants Also Support Education
First Choice Power is now accepting online applications for First Choice Power Classroom Energy Innovation Grants until Sept. 15. First Choice Power will award grants to inventive teachers across Texas for original projects that stimulate and inspire young minds to discuss energy and energy-efficiency in the classroom.
