“To promote economic development and job creation, The Illinois Hispanic Entrepreneurship Center supports firms through the implementation of a business grant program. IHEC awards a grant of $5,000 as an immediate resource for business development to a high-growth potential firm.

On June 26, the award was given to GiveForward.org, a new online tool that makes it simple for individuals and organizations to fundraise from friends and family all over the world. Along with the grant, GiveForward also receives strategic business counseling and management training from Deloitte.

“We are really excited and honored to receive this grant. It comes at the perfect time as we are in the process of promoting the new version of our site,” said Desiree Vargas, President and Co-Founder of GiveForward. “This money will also help us expand our outreach to smaller nonprofits and those people raising money to cover medical expenses.”

GiveForward is a Chicago-based social venture committed to helping people expand the concept of fundraising and “change the face of philanthropy.” The website provides individuals with personal fundraising pages to raise money on behalf of nonprofit organizations and other good causes.
