JEFSA Introduction Applauded by The Latino Coalition

The Latino Coalition (TLC) commends Representative Massa and his fellow Members of Congress for their legislative efforts to address the Argentine government’s fiscal mismanagement. The Judgment Evading Foreign States Accountability Act of 2009, H.R. 2493, will send a necessary message to Argentina that all countries must follow the rule of law. TLC met with Members of Congress late last week and urged them to sponsor this legislation in order to ensure countries like Argentina abide by rules of international lending.

“The Latino Coalition supports Representative Massa and the introduction of JEFSA as a step towards progress for those doing business in Latin American countries. TLC anticipates this legislation will encourage Argentina to practice fair economic standards in the future,” Allen Gutierrez, Executive Director of The Latino Coalition, said. “We hope that with the passage of JEFSA, the Latino community in the U.S. will be able to take pride in the way all Latin American countries interact with U.S. businesses that bring foreign direct investment to the region.”
