Yahoo! En Espanol Reveals the Most POPular Searches for May

“Yahoo! En Espanol today announced its most popular Searches on Yahoo! Pop for the month ending May 31 (espanol.pop.yahoo.com/pop/05-2009/). An evolution of the company’s monthly Top Searches lists, Yahoo! Pop allows users to access the site and stay in touch with what’s hot and use it as a resource to search for and spot trends. Information on Yahoo! Pop is available and searchable by day, month and category.

Beautiful women, a dashing Hollywood actor and the almost “American Idol” make up Yahoo!’s most popular searches list for the month of May. Cuban-American actress Eva Mendes topped the Pop list last month as she was crowned AskMen.com‘s “Most desirable woman of 2009.” Another beauty who had the world abuzz was Miss California Carrie Prejean whose photo scandal prompted a press conference in which Donald Trump announced that she would keep her title. Searches for Argentine model Dorismar also peaked last month after the announcement that she would once again grace the pages of men’s magazine H Extremo with a sexy pictorial. Yahoo! users also searched for info on Mexican model and actress Ivonne Montero who found herself in the middle of a scandal last month after rumors of a romantic relationship with a married Chilean TV presenter circled. Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, who promoted his upcoming film “Inglorious Basterds” during the Cannes Film Festival, obtained the number three spot on the list. After losing the competition and prompting the biggest upset on the popular American Idol show, searches for Adam Lambert peaked as fans wanted to learn more about this beloved contestant. Other Pop favorites last month included Italian actress Monica Bellucci, Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima, singer Beyonce and actress Jessica Biel.

In addition to the most popular overall topics, Yahoo! Pop also reveals the Top Ten Searches in six other categories: entertainment, music, technology, celebrities, news and sports. During the month of May, actresses Eva Mendes and Salma Hayek were the most searched for in the celebrity category. Searches for Cristiano Ronaldo, the popular Manchester United soccer player, and FC Barcelona, the Spanish soccer club that defeated the Manchester United in the European Tournament last month, dominated the sports category. Among the most searched in the news category was Alberto Cutie, after a magazine published photos of the popular priest caressing a woman at the beach, prompting a scandal and his subsequent decision to leave the Catholic Church. Yahoo! users also searched for news on Beyonce and Mariah Carey, who were among the most searched in the music category.
