Univision Communications Inc., the leading Spanish-language media company in the U.S., today announced a robust programming line-up for Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision in the 2009-2010 season. The new programming slate includes the exclusive Spanish-language broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa(TM) in high definition, blockbuster novelas, and highly anticipated reality shows.
“At the heart of Univision’s success is a proven formula of top notch programming that no other network can match. Year after year, Univision broadcasts many of the most watched programs, which on many nights outdeliver its English-language network competitors,” said Ray Rodriguez, president and COO, Univision Communications Inc. “We are very excited about our 2009-2010 line-ups, including once again being the exclusive Spanish-language home of the World Cup, which reached 50 million viewers in 2006 and is sure to be an even greater success in 2010 in high definition across our networks.”
While most English-language networks continue to lose audience, Univision is growing. So far this broadcast season, Univision has grown among Total Viewers +11 percent, while ABC, NBC, FOX and CW have declined. Among Adults 18-49, Univision is also growing while ABC, NBC, FOX and CW are down. Additionally this May Sweep, Univision continues to own Friday nights, ranking as the #1 network among all Adults 18-34, not just Hispanic.
“With our three distinctively branded networks — Univision, TeleFutura, and Galavision — we are in a uniquely powerful position to deliver what our consumers want, 24-hours per day, across all media platforms,” said Rodriguez.
Univision Communications includes Univision, the #1 Spanish-language television network; TeleFutura, the #2 Spanish-language network in some key dayparts; Galavision, the #1 Spanish-language cable network; as well as Univision Radio, the #1 Spanish-language radio group; Univision.com, the #1 Spanish-language online portal; and Univision Movil, offering the industry’s most comprehensive Spanish-language suite of mobile offerings.
