Leaders of the historic ya es hora ¡Ciudadania! (It’s time, !) Campaign will brief reporters on Tuesday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. EDT on the official re-launch of the campaign’s national efforts to motivate eligible legal permanent residents to apply for U.S. in 2009.

The ya es hora ¡Ciudadania! (It’s time, !) Campaign, which includes Entravision Communications, impreMedia, Mi Familia Vota Education Fund, NALEO Educational Fund, National Council of La Raza and Univision Communications Inc., will officially re-launch its efforts on Saturday, April 18 with naturalization workshops in cities across the country that are being held in conjunction with AILA, the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

The re-launch of the campaign follows an analysis by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund that reveals how the success of the ya es hora campaign led to a dramatic increase in Latino naturalized citizens that helped set a record for the overall number of naturalizations in FY 2008.  The analysis of data from the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Immigration Statistics (OIS) shows that nearly one out of two (44%) of the nation’s 1,046,539 new U.S. citizens was Latino.
