“San Diego REPertory will present a double shot of comedy with ’S LATINOLOGUES 15 Year Anniversary Special on Friday, March 20 at 8pm and DADDY DIARIES Concert Version on Saturday, March 21 at 8pm.  Both performances will take place at the Lyceum in downtown San Diego.

LATINOLOGUES is kicking off its 15 year anniversary special in San Diego with this comedic performance of monologues about life in America.  Created and written by Najera, LATINOLOGUES is a critically acclaimed, award-winning comedy production that made its Broadway debut in 2005.  It is the longest running and only showcase of its kind for Latinos in America. Cast for this show includes Jesse Garcia, Dani Melgoza, Dyana Ortelli, Gabriel Gonzalez, Paul Diaz and with special guest star Chingo Bling.

Najera’s latest live stage comedy, DADDY DIARIES, directed by Gary Blumsack, explores life as a father through his eccentric and comedic point of view.  In this hilarious and relatable show, DADDY DIARIES takes audiences from bachelorhood to the rough streets of fatherhood and explains what to expect when you’re not expecting. Whether you are a dad, mom, aunt, uncle or cousin, this show will have you laughing out loud. According to Najera, “When the diaper hits the fan, you better have a plan!”

An established playwright, published author and award-winning writer/actor/director/ producer, is one of the most produced Latino playwrights in the country. He is one of the most powerful voices in the Latino world today, honored twice as ‘100 Most Influential Latinos in America’ by Hispanic Business Magazine.  Most recently Najera penned the feature film, Nothing Like The Holidays starring John Leguizamo, Debra Messing and Freddy Rodriguez and has written for television comedies such as “Mad TV” and “In Living Color.” Currently, Najera is head of original content for Mio.TV and co-creator of KartoonTV.com.

The special performance of LATINOLOGUES 15 Year Anniversary Special will take place on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8 pm and DADDY DIARIES Concert Version will take place on Saturday, March 21 at 8pm. Both shows will take place at the Lyceum (79 Horton Plaza, San Diego). LATINOLOGUES tickets are $25 each, $20 Senior/Military, $18 Student.  Tickets for DADDY DIARIES are $15 and available at the REP’s box office at 619-544-1000 or online at www.sdrep.org.

Full workshop performances of Najera’s comedy DADDY DIARIES will be playing at the Lyceum from May 15 – 17 and May 22 – 24. Tickets will be $20 for adults and $15 Senior/Military/Students
