LATV Launches in Sacramento, Adding Fourth Tribune Station to Its Affiliate Roster

“, the nation’s first bicultural and bilingual entertainment/music network distributed via digital multicast, announced today that it had signed on its fourth Tribune affiliate, KTXL-FOX40, covering Sacramento/Stockton/Modesto, California. The station is in the 11th-largest Hispanic market and is ranked as the 20th largest Designated Market Area (DMA). KTXL-FOX40 began broadcasting on Friday, December 5 on digital channel 40.2. This is ’s 35th digital multicast affiliation across the U.S.

“Sacramento is a pivotal affiliate for us as we round out our presence in California. Now with the addition of the 11th-largest Hispanic market in our fold, we cover the state,” said Howard Bolter, president and COO, . “In just over a year-and-a-half, has extended its national footprint with the top broadcast stations in nearly every key DMA. With only two months to go before the FCC-mandated digital conversion, we are well-positioned for the future.”

In April 2008, struck a distribution partnership with three Tribune stations: New York (WPIX), Chicago (WGN) and Dallas (KDAF). New York is the number-one DMA and the number-two Hispanic market. Chicago is the number-three DMA and the number-five Hispanic market. Dallas is the number-six DMA as well as the number-six Hispanic market. Now with KTXL-FOX40 as its newest affiliate, will reach a total of over 40 million households in the United States and Puerto Rico. Added Mr. Bolter, “We are looking forward to working with KTXL-FOX40 in reaching the state capital’s bicultural audience in the most populous state in the nation.”
