The LATINA Style Business Series is the most successful ongoing business development program for Latina business owners in the nation. The event co-chairs are outstanding Latina Leaders in the city of Miami: Liliam M. Liliam M. Lopez graduated with a 4.0 from St. Thomas University with a major in Political Science. She is the former Executive Director of the Spanish American League Against Discrimination (SALAD). Lopez is a journalist
and has been a staff writer for both “Proyecto” magazine and “Socialite Magazine.” She has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Keys of the City of Miami Beach presented by the Honorable Mayor David Dermer
on June 20, 2002.
Nery Torrent came to the United States from Cuba at the age of 12 and has seen the transformation of Dade County from a tourist community to a complex, international center of finance and commerce. Nery started her banking career in 1976 as a Filing Clerk at Sun Bank and after 30 years in the banking field, she worked her way to her present position at Ocean Bank. Prior to assuming this position, she worked as a Vice President/CRA Director, Consumer Loan
Officer, Mortgage Loan Officer and Community Activities Coordinator. For her outstanding support to the Community which she serves, Nery has received over 49 Awards for Community Involvement and Leadership Excellence, including a Proclamation from the Board of Miami-Dade County Commissioners naming February 23, 2006 “Nery Torrent Day.”
